Hey Larry,

Thanks for the pictures, beautiful country you have.

How does the 2955 handle that Lilliston (9680?) notil drill? We have a 9680 and pull it with an open station 4240. Sure would be nice to pull it with our 2955 which has a cab. I have about froze my b*** off drilling wheat in late fall.

Sorry, not Larry :) The tractor handles it just fine. Its probably the same drill as yours, this is one that Lilliston made but sold by Bushhog, so its numbered a 9690, its 10.5 foot. That 29 is the only tractor ive ever pulled it with and it does fine, usually run in 5th or 6th. Always been plenty of tractor, on level ground or hills, no-till or worked ground.

Here in So. central Mn. we could never leave those trees standing. We have to clear, till and row crop every blasted square inch of ground. Because we want to brag that we are farming 5000 acres.

dont hear much about drilling winter barley, how does that work for winter crop? Do you feed it to the cows? where are you located? does barley do well as a winter crop? what fertilizer do you put on it? how long does it take to mature for harvest?

Sorry for all the questions, maybe i can learn someting.

Very nice pictures I see you have some hills in your neck of the woods.Nice looking hay and equipment.Glad you posted the photos nice to see the country side.Makes the grumpy grey days go faster.Looks like you put up a lot of hay.Do you sell it or feedout cattle?Whats the deal with the barley ?Do you seed it in to a standing hay feild or do you plant the barley and seed your hay into it? Thanks again for sharing your great pics.Have a nice nite

We usualy make 4-500 rounds for the brood cows and 2-3000 square bales for the horses. In good years if we have any extra we do sell some. In that pic the barley is going into an existing stand. Other times I'll be planting small grain as a cover crop for new haystands. A lot of people around interseed barley/wheat into alfalfal/orchard grass stands in the fall just to bump up yield for first cutting.

Located in VA. A lot of people around here grow winter barley or wheat by itself for grain or spring forage or for nurse crops for new haystands, or to interseed into thinning haystands to increase first cutting yields. Works pretty well, definitely bumps up yields. Usually get it baled during the first of May just as it heads out. We wrap all of ours and it makes really good feed for beef cows.

Looks good!
Those are some nice Deeres!
Augusta county? I remeber seeing some signs for their somewhere on 81.
That is some beautiful country.
