H R Block tax software question

Had my fill with Turbo-tax. Looking at going with H&R Block software. Thinking I have to go with their $45 version to get the state program too. (And I was frustrated with TT for their pricing.)

Anyway, on to my question: Does H&R program support 1040F and other farm related forms???

Their web site shows the supported forms. It says that schedule F is included at the middle and high-end versions.

After always doing my own taxes (originally by hand, then with Turbo Tax) I switched to an accountant a few years ago. She knows the things that aren't in the forms, and I pay about the same as what I did with Turbo Tax after all the fees.

There's free tax filing program at taxact.com. Supposed to be free, but I imagine that's just for the most basic return. Seems like I've heard some good things about it, but haven't ever used it. May this year, I've always done my own but its getting so complicated that it gives me a nosebleed.

Thanks, PeterE. I wasn't able to find that info on the disk they sent, nor the website I found.

Interesting, they show different prices for the same product. $34.95 vs $29.95. Higher price on the CD they sent. 'Course state is another $10.00

I paid $38 for TurboTax Delux with State. Better that $45.

Wow, I have been doing taxes for a few years now, and it looks like they are charging you as much as I would and you do all the work. Really, try to find someone who does them professionally and stay away from the big firms. Most of the mom and pop places do a good job and they do it cheap. Most states will let you do your state taxes for free on their website. If all else fails, you can do it yourself at www.1040.com/owosso (Last time I looked it was around $15-20)They also provide help.

I work construction and my wife is part owner in a rental company.I usually collect unemployement in the winter months. The wife gets a salery and a commision, witch she has to pay her own taxes quarterly.We us a CPA to do our taxes. It usually cost about $125-150, but I think it is worth it , especially with the sefl employement taxes.It is better than me trying to figure it all out.

I"ve used TaxAct lately. I work full time, own my own business and my wife is disabled. TaxAct worked fine. Going to use it again this year, e-file is free with it.
