Measurement Needed

Hey Guys,

I picked these up at an auction last summer.

I don't know if they were made to be three point adaptors but that's what I'm going to use them for.

They measure 27" from the point to the center of the hole. [b:6ca9976327]Does anybody know the correct length for a cat 1 adaptor on an IH 330??[/b:6ca9976327] It looks a little long when it's on the tractor. I assume it would be the same on all 300 series tractors.

The holes are 1 1/4" diameter, they'll have to be bored out to accept the new ball sockets. I'm taking it to a welding shop in the morning because there won't be much meat left after the hole is drilled.

Thanks for any help.

Those pretty much look like common 3 point adapters for many of the farmalls Say the 200-560 series etc. Seen many made and none ever seem the be the same since they are all after market and built how that person wants them

If it was me doing it I would wrap a rod the same diameter as the adapters around the end and weld it to add more strength to the end of the adapters before boring out the holes. Armand

One more thought: A inch or two too long would be better than too short when a PTO shaft is used. Check that measurement carefully. Armand

Don't bore those holes out. You can buy step up or step down pins for those holes. Or cat 2 pins with bushings. You will weaken them too much if you drill them.

I have a set something like those, Mine are about
40" long with a point on one end but no hole on the other end -

You hit the nail on the head Armand. I just picked up an Arps snowblower over the weekend and the PTO was too long with my short set of adaptors. Time to get these ready in case it keeps snowing.

I dropped them off at the local welding shop this morning. He said as long as the sockets were welded all the way around it should be OK. He said if I was pulling a chisel plow with a 200 hp tractor, he'd worry about it..... but 35 hp would be OK. He also said if it looked like it needed beefed up when he was done, he'd reinforce it with a strap around the outside.

Thanks for the help guys.
