I can't believe how fast the fronts wore down doing road time. I'm going to check the toe in but my neighbor said his do the same thing on his fwa. Mine are non-radials but the neighbors are radials and don't make any differance. Out side of checking toe in what else can I do. Would more or less pressure help?
 
My tractor allows turning off the assist anytime it is not needed---AND it is supposed to be turned off when on pavement. Don't know if yours is like that or not.

It was told to me years ago, and may very well be in error, that with any 4 wheel drive the fronts turn a tiny fraction faster than the rears so as to help maintain straight travel. On pavement the slightly faster rotation scuffs off the tire as it slips attempt to pull the tractor forward at a faster rate than the rear.

Personally I didn't buy the theory but just presenting it.
 
are you sure that the front end is disengaging . i run a case 580 4X4 all the time on the road and tires last just like any other
 
We have a JD 6400 and it was out of align when we got it. It would wear the tires out in less than 60 miles of road travel.

Now that it is aligned we have put about a 1000 miles on a set of fronts and still look about new.
 
Wrong sized tires and improper inflation will ruin tires, waste fuel and wear drivelines.
The front wheels should only be 1-2% faster for road work. Measure your tractor, I'll bet it's tracking at least 10% fast on the fronts.
 
Perfect alignment, both my last two mfwd tractors wear fronts at a set every 600-1000 hours. Less than 5% road hours. The rears after the same time have no wear.

On a hot summer day the front tires will be hot and gravel will stick to them upon coming off the chipseal.

The set I have on right now are R-4 industrial tires since they are supposed to last longer. Nope, they don't. And they are terrible in mud.
