420 JD. Dozer

I have to brake one of the chains on this 420 JD. Dozer Is there a master pin like on the bigger ones ?? their all look the same to me . Can you still buy new chains for the 420 ?

There is a master link but it may be behind dirt and rust.

Yes there is a master link with a pin to take out to take the chain off. I do not know if the chain is still available from John Deere, but I had a fellow near Fargo, North Dakota put new pins in my a few years ago. He probably can get you anything you need for a 420. He advertises in the Green Machine or whatever that magazine that comes out of Bee, Nebraska. If you got more questions, I probably can hunt up the description of the pin out of the manual and maybe scan in the page and get you the name of the fellow. Good luck. Larry Hardesty

All depends on what's been stuck in there. Origially, yes . . . there was a masterpin with a head on it, kon one side, and a snap ring on the other. Same was used later in the 440, 1010, etc.
