license plate

I recently posted a post on here looking for a John Deere 4620 i found a picture of the guys license plate in the back ground is there any way i could look it up to see who it was, just a thought desperate to find the tractor
Thanks

If you are buddies with a cop or sheriff's deputy, they could "run" the plate for you. (OFF the recored, of course.)

NOT that I would ever condone such a thing!

Just a thought Ben - I'd print out all the related posts on this subject and take them with me for evidence. I think the main concern with the cops giving out license info is that you might be harboring a grudge and are wanting the name/address for some kind of trouble. I've presented info like that to cops and they've helped me, but only after they were satisfied that I wasn't hunting someone for ill purposes.

Might have better luck if you use the cop as a go-between- he checks and makes contact with the plateholder, giving him YOUR contact info. Then it"s up to the recipient.

Ben, I don't know why that everyone always thinks that whatever limited experience that they may have personally experienced applies to ALL the rest of the world, but it does not. In some states license plate to owner info is public record & in some states it is not. I sent you an e-mail and if you are in a state where this is public, I may be able to help you.

talk to a sherif deputy and ask him that question, When a friend needed to find someone to collect a bad debt, the county sherif gave her a form to fill out and a state address to send it to, 2 weeks and 10.00 later, she had the info

As Bob said, it COULD happen.
My niece is a state trooper and I have "theoretically" run that past her when I was wanting to know the owner of a vehicle. She said she would do it. I never gave her the license plate to run because I didn't want her to get in any trouble on my account.

I know down here I couldnt find the info from the previous owner of a trailer. I took the plate down to the tax office, and the lady printed out the info for me (it was a 2 dollar fee).

They fired some cops here for using the database for unofficial purposes. I think they were looking for tractor rides.
