Growing tomatos

Reguards mulching tomatos with pine straw. I checked at least a dozen websites including dept of agriculture. I was surprised to find Pine straw is a recommended mulch for tomato plants. I guess my wife was correct. She finds this out I will never hear the end of it.

You mean pine needles? Pine needles are acidic which tomatoes like!

Pine straw is a very good mulch for just about any plant. It last longer; does not have seeds; and will not compact as bad as hay will.
You might have to lime a little more often but other than that it is great for mulch.

They sell pine straw in bales at every garden center in my area for mulch.
