tire ballast

Filling front tires and say yours are 600X16 will only add about 25-30lbs to them which is not much. As for filling them you will need a tube that has a screw on piece for the valve stem. To get one cheap buy a can of fix a flat that has the tube and then add to if with fuel line etc. Then set up a 5 gal bucket so your tube goes in the bottom and is sealed there and fill the bucket and let gravity do the rest. It will take a long time because the air in the tube will need to bleed up and out of the bucket. On by the way O know this works BTDT and that is how I filled a pair of rear lawn mower tires, also I would install new tubes before doing this

I have added a link to a tire ballast chart. If the tire size is 600X16 the chart shows the ballast to be 50 pounds per tire with a 75% fill.

Ballast fill tools can be purchased from Gemplers or about any quality auto supply store. I think I have read these forums telling that NAPA sells one or several models.

This link basically shows the process I used to add ballast to a BCS two-wheeled tractor. I used a device from Gemplers. I will loan it to you if you want to use it. Post back if you do and I'll give email.
