Got a bad gopher problem, they are tearing up my yard, which is very sandy in this area.Tried most ever thing.Anyone have an answer for getting rid of them,If there is oneHELP.

Strychnine treated maze . About a teaspoon full in the tunnels near most mounds. Find tunnels by pushing a nail bar into the sand as you work your way around the mound. You will feel the tunnel and after you have done enough, you will start to make pretty good guesses as to where around the mound to try poking first.

(quoted from post at 21:47:50 01/21/10) What's a , "Nail Bar" ? Why do I feel like I don't want to have a drink at the Nail Bar ?
o you have a need to know?

When I had a place down on Lake Palestine, we had the same problem. I bought a few traps that look like these:

Be sure and use a chain or cord and stake it so the gopher doesn't pull the trap down the hole in the event it doesn't die immediatly. When you have a dead one, the trick is to leave the dead gopher in the hole less the trap of course. Worked well for me. I reckon live gophers don't like working an existing hole with a dead body taking it up.

Make sure you aren't straddling a shallow tunnel when the Rodenator is used. My neighbor found out the hard way. Didn't hurt him but he jumped pretty fast. Jim

Well, my dogs sure do try. They don't do such a good job, and they sure do dig some really big holes trying. They mean well though. They're better at catching coons, possums, and snakes and stuff and dropping them at the door to make up for it.

A couple of decades ago, there was a TV commercial for something, but I don't remember what though. Had this old guy talking about something, and every few seconds they fired a gopher out of civil war type canon at a brick wall with a small hole through it. The object was for them to shoot the gopher through that hole, but they kept missing the hole, and the gophers kept bouncing off of the wall like super balls, until the last one about a dozen or so later made through the hole unscathed. It was a funny commercial while it lasted until PETA complained and made them take it off. I guess you could round up an old civil war canon and wait for one to cross your property and then let them have it, but if you do, don't be telling no one that it was me that gave you the idea because I get into enough trouble on my own and don't need no one elses help.

Good luck.

There's a new product out called Rozol that is supposed to be very, very effective. It is labeled for use in TX, but is only labeled for control of Black Tailed Prairie Dogs. But I'll bet you probably have a few of those around as well, don't you?? :? Stinkin subterranean rodent vermin!!! Check out liphatech.com.

I use a 30-06 and it works great. Maybe your to close to town where i have no neigbors. Its also alot of fun except for clean up afterwards.
