Here is our 4600, unfortnatly it caught fire, in 02 I think it was, so it has new paint and decals. The battery cables rub were they come up to the battery under the hood, well the positive wore threw and it started on fire. Buy the time we noticed it, we had some fire damage. Thank goodness we saw it because we were working right by tractor, and were able to put out the fire. We were not to far from the house house for water, but man if we were out in the back fields!?;(

No, I have to work off the farm too, I do Landscape Maintenance 8 months a year. Wish I could stay on the farm full time, but you know how it is. I work at the farm full time it seems, but dont make full time pay!

Good photo. Great tractor.
More than one Ford has gone up because of the way the battery tray can pinch or rub the cables.
Did you wire tie a piece of water hose on the new cable?
This one is a 3600 that caught fire but for a different reason. The block heater shorted out.
I bought this as you see it and got it running again. Motor wasn't hurt at all just the peripherals. Pretty tough machines.
I made it into a mowing tractor. My first foray into diesels. Been a couple years and I still aint got paint on it. Someday...

Ultradog MN are you kidding? YES we wraped the cables on both Fords. 4600, 4610. I dont ever want that to happen again, lol

Thanks for the fire comment. When I bought my 3000, I was told that the tractor had caught fire and the engine had been a complete loss, there are still burn marks under the hood. They replaced the engine with one out of a 4600 so it's has lots of power now, but installation was somewhat cobbed.

I think I need to check my battery cables...
