Day late...$4 short!

I went to Costco yesterday to price out batteries for my skid steer. $73.99 for a group 35 that would fit. Original called for 24F but they aren't as common anymore. Went out today to check what was in it. Group 35 AC Delco(US made) with 84 month warranty. I think they've been in about 9 years so I'm not complaining. I called a place that sells Delco batteries but you can't get the 84 month warranty ones anymore. 72 month's with 24 month exchange for $89.99. I would have bought the same that I took out. Another place had Group 35 for $82.99 but they only had 24 month exchange as well. So I went back to Costco since they have a 100 month warranty and 3 year exchange. Only now they were $77.99. The price just went up today and they wouldn't give me yesterday's price. I still bought them but talk about dumb luck. I did get 2 real fresh ones with 10,01 date sticker. A lot of stores will sell for the last price if it just went up, not Costco. Dave

It"s $4, is it really that big of a deal? There are so many people on here b*tchin about stupid stuff, there is hardly any postings anymore about tractors and the like. What is wrong with people now a days? They just b*tch b*tch b*tch

Actually it's $8 cause I bought 2 batteries. I was just making a comment. I don't think anybody likes paying more for the same thing. My post wasn't about a tractor but it was about "the like". You seem to fit into your own category in your last sentence. Chill out. Dave

so what's wrong with the man tryin to save us a little money? We got price & warranty comparisions w/o going to store & spending time looking that stuff up. That's good info whether you buy one or a dozen.

old b*tch there is a sample of the whiners here, they don't just whine about political posts it's anything that don't suit them. They can all go to their respective tractor brand forum but they want to whine here and they know the others are boring.
My tractor is red and the tires are round.

Nowadays it's pretty easy to shop and check pricing & terms of most places online, chains usually will link you to your local store for price & in-stock info, so you don't waste a lot more than $4 driving around shopping
I've got a CD that Home Depot used to give out to contractors & such that will let you tune into any store, and will give you an updated inventory & pricing of everything in the store, that day, and then a very simple search index button to find what you want

I stopped for a dounut & coffee at the bakery one morning. got out, & my pickup wouldn't start. This was pretty early in the morning.

The folks in the bakery - well one came with a walker, one came with a 3-wheel handicap. Not people to bother....

So I called the service station, came out & jumped me, gave me the bill, drove away. I backed out onto the street (angle parking), put it in D, and it killed. Dead. Pushed it back into the parking stall. Huh.

By now it was regular business hours, a mom&pop gas station was 2 blocks away, think there is a sign on it they sell batteries, so walk over. Had to wait a long time for a bs session to end, then they talked to me. Was happy to see Exide sign on the window. Nope, none in stock, sold it yesterday. Will call around to other Exice dealers in town. 30 minutes later, nope, not a battery in town for me. All this time they were talking up their Exides, and talking down the junk from 2 other places in town.

Anyhow, in the end they called one of the places they had talked down, got a junk battery from them, and installed it for me.

Charged $210.

The jump was $35.

I had tools inside the pickup to change my own battery, & the junk battery came from only 6 blocks away. If a person knows, sheez I coulda carried a battery that far, and woulda been a lot of time & money ahead.

Walked kinda funny that day - paid for a lot of people to do a poor job in the end.

Just how it goes.

AAA... I got a membership that I add me family members to. Came out from lunch one day, same story as below - no start. AAA was there in about 15 minutes, gave me a jump, ran an analyzer and told me the battery was no good. (I had figured that out by then anyway.) Asked me if I wanted a new one installed on the spot, $110. Would have cost me $80-90 at the auto parts store with me installing it, and I would have had to go straight home and hope it didn't stall too, so that was a no brainer. 10 minutes later I was on my way with a five year warranty battery...
