Timing on Ford Ranger 2.3 Solved!!

Found what the problem was, the cam gear and the intermediate gear both have more than one mark on them. They have a diamond and a triangle stamped on them. You have to line up the triangle, not the diamond, which is what I did. The diamond is way eaiser to see than the triangle. Lined everything up again with the triangle marks and it fired right up and run good. Thanks to everyone for their help.

I had a picture on how to align everything when replacing the timing belt and I was going to post it. I copied it from a Chilton manual about 30 years ago when we had Pintos & Bobcats. It was too faded to post. It came in handy when I had to replace a timing belt. I have a complete set of Ford shop manuals and none of them show how to replace the timing belt.

Maybe I should've posted it anyway. Hal
