MF35 Manifold stud

In the first picture, this is where I'm going to install a new manifold on a MF35. The top left stud came out when I removed it and should be a little farther in. I put a nut on it and turned it in but the stud came out again. Any ideas on getting the stud tighter without ruining the threads. Also, is gasket sealer only applied to one side (that is, with the gasket). Thanks.
The Ford 3000 in the background is next....having PTO problems.

You can get some Loctite 271 to hold it in place. Clean up the threads and spray some Loctite Primer T on the threads and inside. Apply 271 and double nut the stud and tighten it in to where you want it.

Gaskets are made to seal so unless you got some kind of surface defect in seal surfaces use no sealent .The goop just makes gaskets move around and makes it easier for damage to be done to gasket. As far as the stud goes remove it and bottom tap hole and then screw stud back in until it stops. You can tighten a little tighter if you want or if it's all the way in leave it be..

thats my 2 1/2 cents worth hope it helps
