If its copyrighted then someone has pulled a fast one as that picture was taken around 1900 and any copyright has long since expired.

An outfit in Wisconsin received a bunch of old pictures from one of the companies they put them up on the net and then said that they copyrighted. didn't take long to learn they no right to do that.

The only person who can copyright a picture is the person who took it and I would suspect the guy who took this one is long time dead.

Sorry looking again at the picture it is much newer than i first thought. Color and power pole in the back ground.
sometime I get a little ahead of myself.

Walt, If that picture was taken in 1900 I wonder what planet it is on. They already had power on their farms,thermoplastics to make tanks out of and formed metal roofs on their silos...

LOL Walt! We must have both been looking at the same things at the same time!
It IS a nice picture.
We camp each spring near a rail line that has an old steamer running on it on the weekends. It is a REAL treat to just sit and watch it go by.

The picture was actually taken less than two years ago in Strasburg, PA. The locomotive and coaches are owned by the Strasburg Railway Museum, which has a website with a lot of information, located here: Strasburg Railroad

Your post got me interested enough in copyrighted photos, that I did a Google search.

I was amazed to find that any photo you take, automatically is yours by copyright.
and the copyright lasts until 70 years after your death !!
So a photo taken in 1900, would still be under a good copyright if the guy that snapped it did not die before 1940 !
