Truck tires

Hey Jerry:Are you buying or selling? If you are selling, I would be interested in knowing more details.

That is one of those thing that has a very wide range in price. Back when I drove truck I would see tires like that go for as little as $20 per but those where mostly cappers and then better one up to and over $100 each but those where runners

If I was correctly informed, that size is no longer made by common manufacturers. Maybe I misunderstood, or was told something totally incorrect. Anyhow, that brings up the question of how old are those tires? Even though they may have a lot of tread, the sidewall rubber may have gotten hard and be likely to fail if used on a truck carrying a load. If the truck is used only as a restoration for parade duty, then they will last nearly forever.

Also affecting the price will be the load rating or ply count. Are they 8, 10, or 12 ply? And what is the tread pattern? Is it an agressive off road pattern often used by farm trucks for rear tires, or is it a "road tire" with good shoulders for smooth running on the front axle?

Their worth?? Anywhere from the cost to dispose of them if too old and hard, up to a max of maybe $125 each. I know there are a lot of older C-50, C-60 Chevys, F600 series Fords, and IH 1600's that still use this size, but many of those same trucks have been updated to larger tires like the 9.00 X 20 or the 10.00 x 20, or the newer tubeless tires on the 22.5" rims. The older wheels for the 20" tires are almost all the snap ring type that most tire shops will not work on anymore. That will probably limit your potential sale.

In 2005, when I first got my FedEx Home Delivery truck, I found a pair of mounted, but never run, 19.5s-don't remember the width-for $100.00 each. Ended up paying $100.00 each for 2 extra wheels, but at least I had a spare then...! Greg

used tires are a gamble ,but they are only worth what somebody is willing to give for them .I havbe saw people let them rot bacause they thought they were made of gold .
