What are you guys paying to get your gas tanks filled?

I would feel cheated if I only got 1500 PSI of O2 Most tanks are made for 2500 PSI the ones I get are 2000 to 2200 PSI.
#50 on the Acetylene.

Darn gas cost almost 60 bucks last time an its already empty. Used to be the gas would last around 3 bottles of O2.

It depends on the bottle size but if memory serves me correct I swapped a 70 cuft bottle of 75/25 Argon.CO2 mix gas for MIG and it was something like $35. That said we run 98/2 Argon/Oxygen at work and it's typically higher priced. I can't compair it bottle for bottle though as I have the small bottle at the house and the larger bottles at work.
As for getting only 1500 lbs in a bottle I think you got cheated. I can understand pressures being down a little if it's really cold outside, but for a bottle to be at least 500, and maybe even 1000 lbs lower than what a typical full bottle is just doesn't sound right. I've been welding for over 20 years and spent several in a fab shop doing MIG every day and even going through a bottle a week I have never seen a bottle with less than 2000 psi, even in the dead of winter (of course as someone pointed out in a previous post it doesn't get that cold here in NC as compaired to other parts of the country). Typical fill pressures I see are in the 2200 to 2500 range though I have had a few closer to 2800. That said I think I'd take that bottle back and tell them I wanted another.

I was working out of town last winter and went to the local branch of my welding supplier to pick up a fresh bottle of acetylene. The one they gave me showed only 125 psi on the guage. The ones I typically get are closer to 200psi give or take. I know these bottles are not filled by pressure so that shouldn't matter, and that was the the excuse given to me, along with the cold temp, being the reason for the lower than normal pressure. I refused that bottle for another and it showed closer to 190 on the guage. Clearly the first bottle was less than full as both bottles were the same size, and were setting side by side in the same temp, but showed way different pressures.

I haven't exchanged either bottle in a while, but we have ours through Airgas and the acetylene runs about 70 and oxygen around 15-20. Next time our tank lease is up I think I am going to go to a larger oxygen bottle.

I go to the Airgas store in Meadville.
