One more reason not to shop at Walmart

Quite some time ago I decided Wallyworld did not exist--for me. I simply do not shop there

Here's one more reason on the growing list

PALM BAY, Fla. --
A Walmart greeter who was shown on video getting punched by a customer has been fired.

Ed Bauman, 69, said the act of defending himself cost him his job.

Bauman went into Walmart hoping to get back to work for the first time since police said he was punched by a customer. Instead, Bauman said he was fired.

Another news report I found reported that Bauman had asked to see a customer receipt and the youngster "sucker punched" him. The police have pretty much defended Bauman, and charged the kid with a felony.

Why would something like this stop you from shoping at wally world. This same thing could happen any where.

After looking at the video and taking into account that the police did not charge the old man; I think he would be within his rights to cry wrongfull termination.

good glad you won't be there the next time I go maybe I can get a parking spot within 1/4 mile of the front door. All the people I know that 'never shop at Walmart' were at the opening of the new Super Walmart near here.

i go at least 40 hr per week . with all the plants closed . no jobs i thank the lord for my little 10+ A HR JOB . you would not believe the crap we put up with . stealing. damage and outright nasty meaness.could have my mom or pop,or me i would not have only lost my job,i would have to tell the judge i lost my mind for a few. i love my job and most of the people. if it were not for walmart i could not buy and restore tractors :lol

If you want to see a really ugly side of society - work retail. People would behave far better overall if some of their conduct could be filmed at these establishments and had the threat of that being shown in a public forum held over their head. But when you see the appetite the general public has for the crudeness of reality TV, I really have to wonder anymore.
Customer and employee would be best served by "treat others as you would have them treat you." As much as we want to show society how tough we are it would be better if we swallowed a little pride and showed some kindness.

Interestingly, I got a 100 dollar, single cup coffee pot for Christmas...exactly what I wanted. Wamart sold it, but Walmart doesn't sell the coffee singles that go with it, at least not within 50 miles from where I am currently working.

Pot sure looks good though!

Sadly America is a changed place! I am in full agreement with the observations and conclusions of NY986 below, as well as Dennis in NC.

Reality TV displays the least desirable qualities of American domestic life. We as adults were raised in another era. Consider the effect this constant bombardment of cultural sludge must have on growing youth. In fact consider what conclusions people from another part of the world would draw about Americans if they were introduced to us ONLY via our television productions!

Indeed we all need to display more respect for others. Harvey

walmart simply does it better.. I will continue to shop there till something better comes along. Their oil is cheaper, their filters are cheaper and they give back to the local community. Something the local rich aristocrats did not do.

There are lot's of reasons not to. This is one of them.

Millions of Reasons why to not shop at Wal Mart

Hello 440roadrunner,
If wolly mart (NO CAPITAL LETTERS) is the ONLY place i can get it ...............................................................................................I DON't NEED iT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guido.

Boy as much as I liked to blame the late Sam Walton I'm afraid he had a enough foresight in capitalizing on where our country was heading. I'm just jealous not to pick up on it, K-mart didn't react fast enough and Target wanted a higher class of people so their employee's didn't have to wear scrubs to stock the shelves and they can get the less trashy people to shop there. My wife had to stop on her way to work one morning at our Super Wal-Mart and there was a young woman in her 20s wrapped in a quilt with flip-flops going in. Watch-out for Dollar General because most folks are saying they don't have to dressup to go there. Go to the website people of Walmart Ewhhh!! I guess I was born too early!! CT

They do not give back in terms of maintaining the nucleus of local businesses. Local business leaders are not perfect in terms of attitude sometimes but most are honest, friendly, and sincere. Having a strong small business community is as important to a local economy as having a large factory or government agency in terms of higher wages. I'm sure there are some instances where people have gone from minimum wage to 8, 9, or even 10 dollars per hour when Wally hit town,
but that happens infrequently. All I've ever seen is the opposite where somebody was maybe making 30 to 40K running their own business down to minimum wage.

He wasn't sacked for that, he is 69, been wanting to get rid of him for years, the front of the house, some nice and pretty thing with an empty head would be a better image for the store.
If you're all concerned BOYCOTT the place.

When wally comes to town it brings a lot of businesses.
Big towns on either side of me had largely unimproved areas that blossomed after wal mart showed up. Wal mart hires far more people than a mom and pop grocery store, hardware store and pharmacy would.
Kid moved jobs from a nearby smaller store to a wal mart further down because they payed better.

Thats right Walmart pays better and has lower prices than the so called Mom and Pop stores so everyone benfits except the owners of the Mom and Pop.The stuff each one sells come from the same place so its not like its made locally either.

That is the standard MO. The worker is canned no matter who could be at fault. Never rehired. Saw it happen. I just saw a dollar tree store attached to wally world building.

Have the world's second biggest main frame. Any thing you buy is recorded and stored in the brain with in 15 minute of the sale.

They have the suppliers by the neck.

For some reason there is a mentality by people in the business of running stores, including Wal Mart, that they can do anything to people working for them and get away with it.So with nothing really going to make whatever jerk decided to do this suffer over it,he or she just acted like a jerk, fired the old guy,and nothing will happen about it.You hear about Wal Mart a lot because there are a lot of Wal Mart stores.I remember having to deal with jerks at grocery store warehouses.Wal Mart, bad as they are was a big improvement over Fleming. It is so bad that it makes me wonder if when these jerks go to school or college do they have a class that teaches them to be jerks? If you deliver to Home Depot,Lowes,Associated Wholesale Grocers, even Caseys Stores warehouse, you could have a good manager or one you think was trained by the Gestapo. So at least at some colleges or maybe actually some managers who didnt go to college, run some places and you probably wont see that at those places. Its the ones with the attitude they are God because they went to college is where you get the trouble usually. The way it is at the top,it is that way at the bottom too.I guess jerks have to have jobs too.If they got the He11 beat out of them every day though the workplace would probably be a lot better off.

Trucker40, do you ever have a straight, to the point, comment on "ANYTHING",... or, do you just enjoy spouting rambling rants of continuing nonsense as a way to get everybody as confused as you are? :)

LOL. I thought the same thing when I saw his post. Ask Trucker40 if it's raining and you'll get a 1000 word essay on how bad capitalism is, Wall Street is all crooks, it's all the nnalert's fault, and he's got all the answers. Hey, Trucker40, did I miss any?

Sounds like he's spent too many lonely hours on the road with no one to talk to.

Well what was wrong with that one?I dont like any big corporation that has people working for it that acts bad toward their workers. It is a conflict that has gone on forever. Its called Labor and Management.Management to some people is they are God and you are dirt.Thats the very reason there are unions.

Its a balancing act.Wal Mart is not the only problem. The problem is people. Some Wal Marts and some big corporation owned places are good to their workers.Just walk in a bad one and the attitude will tell you what kind of a person runs that place.Dope heads running it,cant find anybody,God complex, nobody will talk to you, good folks, happy employees who are friendly.

Spotted Horse this crap of trying to discredit me is making me mad.I dont care if I write 20 pages if you dont like it quit reading it.I suspect that you do like it or you wouldnt read it.If you worked for a living you would know what Im talking about.Your attitude says you are a spoiled brat that doesnt know anything.

What?I take it you are one of the Conservative nnalert Neocons. How is that working out for you?Depression not bad enough to make you shut up I see.Dont worry you will find that while I dont begin to know everything,I know a little.Which seems to be a big problem for you.I suppose you want a board where everybody agrees with the other side? Then you can just agree with everything old Spotted Horse says and you know he is a genious, right?Look around at boards like that.It will only take a few minutes and you will want to puke, and so will everybody else.If you want to tell me Im wrong and explain why,go ahead. If you want to run your mouth like a little kid I dont have time for you.

I go to wally world all the time I just use a lot of hand sanitizer and try not to use the restroom along with Lowes too. I wait until Home Depot. :-> I"m sorry folks I just have a problem with seeing snot wiped on the the stall doors and stairing at spit blown on the urinal wall in front of me much like I see at a rest stop or truck stop when I travel.

Trucker40,... I retired 2 years ago but I still have a small haying operation (91 acres of alfalfa ground). I've sold all my cows but kept my horses.
I've always prided myself as being a "conservative" and have very, very, little respect for liberals/socialists (or, whiny union babies), that think their employers (or anyone else) "owe" them more than they're worth.

The "ONLY" reason I even look at your posts, is to see if you've written anything "comprehensive" for a change,... thus far, I'm still being disappointed.
