Oh OH, Al better start a new book

I guess we all got to start breathing heavy. (Got to get that CO2up) Maybe our government can subsidise our gasoline costs. So we can all generate more 'GreenhouseGases'. What a joke,I said it before, and I'll say it again, If it wasn't so serious, it would be funny.

There's not a rock in the world big enough for Al to hide under if he crosses his handlers now.
Maybe we need to go back to the halfwitted ideas from the 70s that were proposed then to stop the new ice age. Cover the polar ice caps with soot so they'll melt, divert rivers to warm things...there was quite a list of solutions.

MAN! that's a real bummer I was looking forward to a warm climate and seaside frontage to open a nice resort for those up in Canada.

Not me that's for sure. A while back I heard where somebody was making a whole bunch of money selling ice from icebergs for use in drinks and such though.

"Highly educated so called experts"? I think the term you're looking for here is "useful idiots".

Let's take a "fair and balanced" look at these piece of alleged journalism from Fox.

At the bottom of the page, you'll note it's already been revised:

"Editor's note: An earlier version of this article erroneously reported that the NSIDC reports concluded that the warming of the Earth since 1900 is due to natural oceanic cycles."

So they've already had to retract one of the major points. Now let's see what Prof. Mojib Latif, their main source of information, has to say. A quick trip to Wikipedia reveals the following quote:

"If my name was not Mojib Latif, my name would be global warming. So I really believe in Global Warming. Okay. However, you know, we have to accept that there are these natural fluctuations, and therefore, the temperature may not show additional warming temporarily."

So, when it comes to getting the facts straight, Fox News is zero for two.

I don't understand what point you're trying to make. What you posted from Wikipedia says the same thing as the Fox story.

Tom,

The original, unedited article was clearly trying to discredit the notion that global warming is man-made. It's a little less obvious after the retraction, but it's still obvious that the Fox article wants the reader to believe that global warming is NOT man-made, while it's equally apparent from the Wikipedia article that Prof. Latif does not personally support that notion.

Minnesota Dave,

Citations equal credibility. The brief Wikipedia article about Mojib Latif cites four sources. The much longer Fox News article cites zero sources, which apparently resulted in Fox making an embarrassing retraction when they erroneously quoted NSIDC.

Um, guys, did you actually read the article from Fox news? It doesn't dispute global warming, in fact it goes to lenghts to say how this is a "fluctuation" in the warming trend.

I think what we have to remember is that, hey, if we have a cold winter now and then, it doesn't mean that global warming is a sham. In fact, the end result of global warming is an ice age. I'm not saying that's what's happening now, but I see people comment thinkgs like "Well, it was -15 F at my house today, so global warming must be wrong!"- it's not like that.

When they say "global warming", they mean like 2-3 degrees. But that's enough to melt ice that creates a rise in sea level - there's already been a couple of formerly inhabited islands that have disappeared. Coastlines will move inland.

The question always is, is man responsible? Or is this a natural cycle? Personally, I think it's a natural cycle, but humans have really accelerated it. Not that I'm a tree-hugger, I drive my truck and tractors around, adding to the problem. Not criticizing the past, either - we had to industrialize to move forward as a species. But now that we know about the problem, and we have the technology to make a difference, we should do what we can to slow global warming.

Just my, um, 25 cents.
