Gas Prices

CNN said the rise in price was because of bad weather and high home heating use.
Gas use should be down with everybody at home.
Ain't figured out what home heating has to do with gas prices.

Maybe the price of a barrel of crude?? But Nothing has to have any effect on anything, its how much they can get away with. Some people will believe anything you tell them, theres a @ss for every seat, ie, a wood pecker took a dump in the woods and is now endangered, so expect the price of fuel to go way up. Ever notice how at the pump gas goes up .5 .10 cents a day or more? but takes 2 weeks to come back down? Never drops 10 cents in a day. Iv seen the stations raise the price, because the night befor they said gas wolud be going up, but its the same fuel in the tank as the night befor, no new shipment yet?
A coulpe winters ago they said heating oil prices would be low, because they stock piled alot of it. Well the winter was milder than expected, and there wasent a more than average demand for it. But all of the sudden they claimed reserves were low and the price went up. What happened to the stock pile all of the sudden. They say one thing today, than conterdict it tomarrow it seems.

I do not usually participate in political discussion, but this is a little different and I want to throw my two cents in on this fuel subject. As I see it, they can not throw enough money. be it called stimulus, bail out or bribe to save the economy in this country if we see another round of three dollar gas and four dollar diesel, they have never acknowledged the fact the price of fuel is what tore the middle class folks a new a$$ in 08!

Do all of those companies that we buy our gas from have to buy it? When you are at an auction and there is something that you really want and someone bids higher than you, do you have to then bid higher in order to get it, or do they let you have it at the price that you last bid?

$4 dollar diesel? We hit $5.05 here and maybe as high as $5.25 cant remember thought.

Nancy Pelosi said in April of '06 that the nnalert have a common-sense plan to reduce energy costs (gasoline was about $2.60 a gallon back then). I guess she's just waiting for the right time to tell us what it is.

Northeast Section of the country uses Heating oil or a diesel equivalent. Thats where the cold weather plays into this all. Midwest doesn't use Heating oil and thus we are more reliant on LP and NG.

Well Fred, I'll tell you. We must be just overfilled with oil. We're so overfilled, that in the last 3mos, they have shut down 2 refinerys here in the northeast. One in NJ, and the other in Del. I remember just a few years ago all the talk of how we didn't have ENOUGH refining capacity. Now I guess we have MORE than enough. We have so much that we can just start shutting down refinerys. Yeah, just like you, I'm still waiting for that amazing plan from Pelosi and the rest of the marxists, OOPs, I mean nnalert. Hey, maybe they can just print a few trillion more and send it out to us. That could'nt be any worse of a plan, then has already been thrown against the wall.

I worked in that industry for a while and this is how we bought gas. (Bear in mind this was a Texaco distributor)
Every morning at 7:00 the manager placed calls to refiners and other in the business of selling tankers full of gas. We bought at least three and oftimes four tankers a day seven days a week. Our terminal was at the docks in Tampa Fl. each place(Generic , Mobil, Texaco, BP and Phillips, Exxon and Standard, would then submit a 24 hr price to us and whoever was the lowest got the business. Many times more than one supplier would have the same price so we would split the buy to keep everyone happy. It is mt understanding that we could also purchase so many gallons at the price quoted but had to pick it up over a certain time fame. Any how, that is how the distributors priced their fuel. Henry

If you look you can find that the stock market is not associated with supply and demand at all.It jumps up and down so the croks can play big time stock trader.They dont care if there is 50% unemployment or if all the busnesses go broke,they only want that profit.They also own politicians on both sides.Nancy Pelosi is a crook too.

Yeah, Talking up the hybrids and flexfuel vehicles that nobody is going to buy. I hope she takes one for a test ride and gets lost downtown somewhere. Maybe she'll get to meet some of her fellow nnalert, I'm sure they will just love her.

Man you just will not get it!Clinton had one of the best economys in history.Bush and crew dragged us into a depression,and then acted like it was a good thing to do!Yeah FDR got elected more times than anybody ever was to President.There was no instruction manual for him to figure it out with but he did it.Hoover caused the Great Depression.Shows the country was confident with FDR in charge and he would have done anything to fix it.What would your heros do?Nothing.And if they did anything it would be wrong and they would lie about it and try to blame it on somebody else.You cannot get away with saying the Depression was because of FDR.Thats blasphemy and you know it.Well maybe you dont know better,but no matter what they brainwashed you to believe the Depression caused by Hoover and fixed by FDR and he slipped in some areas,but he did it.If you try and lie about it anybody that looks it up can find out whats true.Quit trying to lie about it.It is disgusting when you resort to that crap.

I read everything you said.It sounded like a trader trying to justify market fluctuation that should not exist.I said if there was 50% unemployment and it ruined the whole country the traders wouldnt care as long as they made about 10% a year on their money.

The solution is to get the stock market back on supply and demand and throw the manipulators in prison.

Im not going to be confused or baffled with bullcrap at all.Gas should be less than 1.50 a gallon now,probably lower.It is being held high by market manipulation,and its a fact.

You're right about supply and demand in the markets. It's the only way. But that won't happen until the government stops holding interest rates artifically low. Again,it's YOUR money that these traders are trying to make money with...for YOU.

Well we started with a world wide depression. While the rest of the world emerged in 3 to 5 years to solid economies it took a nnalert named FDR to turn ours into "The Great" depression.

The nnalert angle is one I have to admit I dont understand.Lets see if this is close.If a little does good a whole lot is better?So knowing about the 20% interest in the late 70s and early 80s devastation,some part of their demented brain says"Doh,we better hold interest rates down,duh!"That is probably because they know there will be a riot they cant survive if they jacked them up.Also this house of cards looks like an upside down pyramid.They are telling a lie here,a lie there and its piling up and about to drive the thing in the ground like a splitting wedge!

Calm dowm man, jeeze. Look, the only thing that pulled us out of the "GreatDepression" was WW11. Socialized programs, with massive government spending, Does not lead to economic growth. Have you ever heard the anology, that government spending is like taking a bucket of water out of the deep end of the pool, and dumping it in the shallow end. You are just moving water around. You are not creating anything. Economic growth come from private business, creating something people want. CREATING goods and jobs for the economic good of everybody. Government does nothing but get in the way and take from the business.
FDR was a big believer in bigger government. A government that thinks IT knows best for the citizens. FDR, The great man who sold half of europe to communisum for over 60yrs. He was sold to the masses by a propagandised media. He was such a great man, that the nnalert themselves, set term limits for the President.

Yup,it is. I sure pray that we never see interest rates like those from the 70s and early 80s again. I bought a new tractor in February of 1981 and paid 17.5% interest. I know guys who borrowed operating money that spring for 21%. We CAN'T go back to that,but it's where we're headed. All courtesy of the US Government. We had those rates because Nixon,Ford and Carter printed so much money to finance their deficits. Reagan knew that and made a deal with Congress to borrow money instead of printing it until they got spending under control. They NEVER did. Then that little genious Bush started printing money again to make it look like his deficits were smaller. NOW look at the mess we've got. The current administration is no smarter than the last one and Congress is in line right behind the White House when it comes to the fiscal aganda. I have ZERO optomism that any of this will ever end well. But,I'm in the last stage of grief when it comes to loosing this country,acceptance. There's NOTHING folks like you and I are going to do about it my friend.

Allright.I see at least some of this.Im not in favor of a lot of socialization either.Now there are flaws with both sides of this.A little socialization is alright.I remember my Grandpa trying to live on Social Security in the late 50s and 60s after farming all his life with horses.He was not in good shape,but sometimes he was better off than his kids who were just raising familys.So even as a kid I got a view that while social security may not be the best thing,it does work.

I think FDR was great because of who he was.He was a man who for some reason cared.Lots of people dont care.Lots of politicians get in office and dont do anything worthwhile.Jimmy Carter comes close to that in my mind.FDR was not Jimmy Carter,but he might not have been a lot smarter than Carter.Things happened like WW2 that forced FDR to respond better or if not that have people around him that would.Im not going to ever buy into some idea that FDR was some old crook that got to be President and then lined his pockets and didnt care.Its fairly obviuos that he cares in those newsreels of him.He is also a face man of something that you cant see behind him acting as a leader.

Now I know that nnalert are crooks.The way I see it they are only slightly better than nnalert.Some times and some things they are worse than nnalert.However I have come to a place in my life about 15 years ago to where I look at it like this,you either have nnalert who dont represent you at all,or nnalert who represent you now and then.They are only going to do as much as somebody makes them do.I did one time along with lots of other people write my Representative and get a fuel surcharge for truckers unanimously through the House.It wasnt my idea or anything but I wrote a letter to Clinton and my Senator and Representative and got an answer just the same.Only one vote stopped it in the Senate.I will only say it was a nnalert.
That was a big deal for working people and held up by who,A nnalert.Im never satisfied that the nnalert even represent me at all,so thats why I dont like anything to do with them.Now if they start voting for peoples issues at times other than just before an election,I could change my mind.I dont think there is any danger of me changing my mind.That doesnt mean I even think a lot more of the nnalert,I hate all that gun control crap,and I saw the projects rise and fall.Delivered TVs in the jungle in the 1970s in KC,MO and there was gunfire going on all the time.The best thing I ever saw a politician do besides Nixon ending the draft was Clinton sign the welfare to work law.I just am not going to be agreeing that nnalert are doing anything in my interest.Have not seen that happen yet.

Acceptance, That's where I am. I feel sick about it. But I know it coming. I feel really bad for my kids, and all the other young people out there.

Social security started off as a good plan. I'll conceed that. But of course, The geniuses in our government could not leave all that money alone, and put it into the general fund. Frittering away what was supposed to be kept safe in it's own account. This government is TOTALLY out of our control now. They, both sides, have bankrupted us. T, We are in for some bad times.

Yes,me too. It's not going to be easy. I can only think how the Russian people handled it. Imagine just waking up in the morning and finding out that your country doesn't exist anymore. No currency,no economy,no laws,no government. No reason to get up and go to work. No economy,remember? Every state has a constitution,but no currency to pay for government or law enforcement. If the people of a state actually produce something,an economy can eventually be built from that with leadership,but how will anybody recognize leadership when emotion is going to cause mob rule. Biggest problem is,it was the US that stepped in and helped the countries of the former Soviet Republic rebuild. There's no other country on earth that will be able to give us that kind of help.
Yep,it's gonna be ugly alright. Let's just hope the survivors have the good sense to start over with the original US Constitution and the will power to make it stick next time around.

Anybody care to predict when the average price for a gallon of gas, in U.S. will reach $4.00?

Actually hoover made it the great depression. FDR turned it around. I don't think external_link is in any way comparable to FDR though, external_link is just gonna make it worse in my opinion.

I see your point, thanks, but it just clarifies what I already knew, but didnt know why, I had this deep forboding about the future, even though "change" occured in the White House. I can"t see how supporters of either party can say they are better for America, when both have participated so readily in it"s destruction. But I see your point, we are doomed.

If there was plentiful fuel the price would fall so what better to keep the demand high by closing a few refineries as mentioned herein.
