One more picture from the side.

I had also replaced the load shaft and seals. I replaced pretty much all the rubber parts. I am trying to salvage the wiring harness.

Say, does anyone have a good method to clean connectors? I have used battery terminal cleaner but I don't believe I'm using it in the right application.

i have modified the wifes fingernail file(that was lost)dipped in electrical cleaner may be a better way but worked great for me
 
contact cleaner or tv tuner cleaner...both basically same stuff and available at radio shack
