Hello all, new to this site, I am looking into buying a Case IH 885 and do not know much about it. It is diesel and has 5695hrs on it , the rubber looks good and it does not seem to have any leaks, also it is a 4WD.

Any info would be helpful to me. Thanks.

885 is a good tractor just check the parking brake and the foot brakes parking break is a bear to change. I think it is still in a band on the 885 not sure but the 4230 same tractor just newer is on the pinion shaft alot of hours and about 500.00 in parts the brakes are not an issue but the orings fail sometimes not a real expencive job but lots of work. expecially if a cab tractor. I have a 4230 love the tractor for haying and loader work. what kind of a price? the hours are up there.

I have a Case IH 895 mfwd with a loader and it's a great tractor. Mine is the row crop model with 38 in. rubber on the rear, which I especially like. If you haven't had a 4 wheel drive tractor before you will be flat out A-blanking-Mazed at what it will pull.

Haymaker, what does the mfwd stand for, and how do the model numbers work. Is your 895 bigger or newer than the 885 . I own a wood lot and would like to put a Farmi wench on the 3 point hitch, thanks D. Bird

The 885 was replaced with the 895 then replaced with 4230 then case IH cx series then mccormick continued the Cx 90-95 same drive train different motor
