refurbished tachs and gauges

I was looking on ebay and saw some refurbished
tachs. Does anyone know how and what they do
to accomplish this. Like how do they take them
apart without ruining them and how do they get
the different numbers and colors back?

Don't know HOW they do it,but there's an outfit that advertises in either Hart Parr Oliver Collector or Oliver Heritage magazine that DOES do it. Haven't got it right in front of me to get a web address, but a google search should find it for you.

In the southern part of Minneapolis, MN. there is a company that restores all types of tachs, speedometers, etc. -but they are expensive! Had a hourmeter redone couple years ago for a Moline, they just unroll the crimp around the glass and then reroll it back, just like using a can opener. They also can put new face on most any gauge.
