i bought a this tractor from 6 hours away and think i got worked over here. u cant shift the tracor into gear...stays in neutral...but back end is locked up. it doesnt have a starter so you have to hand crank it and i cant get it to budge. think engine is siezed and or the rear end is too? i am in western ny and it has been 15 deg frnht.
thanks

if it is that cold out it sounds like it has water in the tranny and rear end, frozen. engine may be locked up or more frozen moisture..

guess you get to pull some drain plugs or remove some covers to see what is going on.

Maybe tractor has trans "locked up" which means even with shifter in neutral, sliding gears are meshed incorrectly. This would look like engine lockup and rear end. Your saying rear end locked meaning you cannot push or rock it. Keep checking all is not lost yet.

I am ashamed to admit it, but you are not alone, yours is a !!B!! and mine is a 48 C . You know the story! ( that tractor was running last year when we parked it, probably needs a new starter, or maybe it's the battery weak) BUT when you are trying to get it off your trailer, at home, you realize that the darned engine is siezed solid. In the case of the old 48 C it was in nutral, and rolling backwards off the trailer, and the rearend locked up half way down the ramps. Had to jerk the trailer and ramps out from under it, with the truck wound out. It has been soaking since last fall, in ATF,Kriol, liquid wrench, and the last thing I put in the plug holes was Marvel Mystery oil. STILL SIEZED, If I ever get the pistons loose, then I get to tear into the finial drive. Aint that nice? You have my sympathy!

I dunno about your engine, but I won't worry too much about the transmission until you can get it thawed out. Usually a neglected tractor will have water in the transmission, not enough to crack the casings, but enough to make it solid below 32F.

You might want to pull the valve cover to look at the valves, sometimes these sieze too. If you try to pull the tractor with a stuck valve you can do some damage in a hurry.

Good luck.
