Kinda think I am gonna lock in some prices today, only 25% of what I should be able to produce in 2010. Around here bins are all full of noncontracted grain, and alot of corn in the feilds. I cant see prices getting too high for 2010 corn.

I would agree Dave.

I have already locked in about 1/3 of the 2010 crop.

But I have some of 09 crop to price yet.

I'm waiting on the 09 for that last big rally.LOL

Maybe we already had the 09 rally. Who knows???

It's been a wild ride the past 18 months, going to be the same the next 12 it seems. Hard to believe there is a lot of upside in these world ecconomic times, but the funds keep pushing things around.

Selling some now sounds like a good idea.

I'm always curious as to the different prices/basis in different parts of the country. Down here NW IN the basis on next fall's corn is $.35 while the beans are $.40. How does that compare to where you're at? I sold some of next years corn/bean crop out of the field for $4.07/$10.10 in late November I think. I believe corn nudged up to that again today. Wonder what will happen in the upcoming months???

May I ask what your price range was you locked in at. Where I sell to mostly is at $3.75 today, but that could drop before I even make the call, I want to check ADM and CHS first and see if they are higher enough to make it worth paying for the trucking. Beans I have to check, I wasnt emailed about new crop beans yet. Hear some guys locked in $11

I have sold a bunch also. I know I will hate myself more if it drops $2/bu and I did not sell than if I average $4 and can even afford to buy a call if I feel bullish.

I figure if $4 is the worst I do, it will be the best year of my farm career.
