I've had a horse-drawn A.B. Farquhar Iron Age potato planter sitting in my shop for 30 years. One of those projects that I guess I'm never going to get done. I've kept it inside because it has a wooden hopper with all the original paint and lettering still on it.
My original plan was to convert it to a tractor hitch, but I never got around to it. I also bought some new parts for it, like the fertilizer belt and rollers.
I just decided I'm sick of this thing taking up room but don't want to ruin it by sticking it outside. Does anybody collect these things? I assume some of the Amish farmers might still use them. But, with the wooden parts, it's not the sort of thing you'd want to leave outside. I know that many of the major mechanical parts are still available new from McConnel. That becaue they bought some of the rights and make new planters using some of the old technology.
