WHAT DO CAN I DO:

It is so cold here in Iowa my power lines are froze and I can not get power to my heated shop.. And cows are making frozen ice cream. WHAT CAN I DO

maller wires &/or more current & the wires will stay warm (see photo).

Why do you need power to a "heated shop"?
That is like the phrase "hot water heater". There is no need for a device to heat hot water, now is there?
Build a fire near the cows and have soft serve!

I'd wrap those wires with heat tape (plug them in to an outlet in your shop) and sit down for some ice cream.

Watch out when those lines thaw. The built up pressure will blow electricity out of your wall
recepticles. Go to wally world and buy those plastic child proof plug pluggers.

Think about going out to the shed and cracking open all the R-12 freon cans, spray paint cans, leave all the tractors running, and cut the cat converters off all my cars. Maybe it will open a hole in the ozone to warm up the farm a bit.

My heated shop has a propane Reznor heater hung from the ceiling. Requires power for ignition and thermostat control.

All I have to say to all the conservatives on this website that mock global warming is: see what several thousand polar bear farts can do! It can freeze us out of the northern hemisphere! Somebody tell external_link. Ha!

an't be sure, but suspect transformers paralleled & had a failure in one. It was the secondary wires connecting pole to pole. I would still have expected the overload interrupter in the supplying transformer to open, but it clearly didn't. Multiple failures?
Power co. did replace a transformer.
