heloo got a quick question anyone ever heard of a positive ground on these tractors the positive lead goes straight to the frame first one i ever saw any way to convert this back to negitive ground??

Hi Jacob. They were positive ground from the factory. A lot of the older models of all makes were. I guess I am not sure why/where that started but a guy really has to watch for correct battery connections. If you need neg ground it can be converted. But you say back to neg. It's spendy(i think) and it is now the way it came. Welcome to the boards as I see you r new user status. If you need to convert, the guys here can help. Move down to the Oliver board for more specifics if you need. Fred

If it's got a generator, yes,it's a positive ground. That's actually an Oliver 770 and all of the Olivers with generators were positive ground. Why would you want to change it back? If it has the single panel instrument panel, where all the guages are in one,you can't change it. That guage cluster has to be poritive ground.

well the issue is the battery keeps going dead and with a positive ground is there suck a thing as needing a special battery for a positive ground system im juust curious where to go with this tractor works great but dont like the idea of haveing to boost it every time you want it

You probably have a drain on your battery. An easy way to stop that is to install a master switch in the ground cable. This will isolate the battery from ground. Your voltage regulator
may be the culprit that's draining the battery. Hal

Just sounds like a short or a bad battery. Doesn't take a special battery. I'm not an electrical engineer, but from what I've been told,a positive ground system is less prone to corrosion.
