WHITE tractor value

O.K. I,ve got my ideas but need some second opinions on this one, actually two..
First one white field boss 4-150 1976 year
duals all the around. Inside tires about 80% out
side set fair to slick. Shows 2870 hrs been parked for 4 years in shed. Remotes with 3 point, 1000 rpm pto Looks better than average,all glass intact , Was told unit will
run and probably load its self but has weak main clutch. What is it worth where is.?

Second unit same shed been siting 5 years same year white 4-78 industrial tractor (Yellow Oliver) has industrial tires home made cab 4 wheel drive. Side mounted mo trim mower with bad
front pump..said the unit ran good when parked..
Location Middle Tn,, what is it worth?

Not knowing anything about the unit other than what he has told you I'd say 35-4000. That may insult the seller but this is really a pig in a poke.
4-78 I wouldn't have. Everything I see ran good when parked.

Oh boy....

I think this is one of those times when you really need to figure out how bad you need the thing.
5K sounds like an attractive figure to me if you were halfway sure of the rest of it. More than that... with an unknown cost to fix and you start getting into the territory where you could buy a 'good' tractor that would hold it's value rather than a pig that's worth little, even when running.

I know there's going to be someone say they had one and it was a great tractor, etc.......
To me, it's attractiveness is cheap power. Best kept that way.

Hi,
Just jump onto www.external_link Those old White articulators do not sell for much money even when they are in pretty good condition. If the seller wouldn't even start these tractors up, then do yourself a big favor and just walk away. As other have already said, you can easily dump a bunch of money into something that is a piece of junk and it will never be worth what you could have to put into it.

Be careful , A neighbor has one MAYBE like that , And they are no longer using it .., Claimed it had 2 two wheel drive Trannys that were always under a Torque FIGHT , This may not be the case with the tractor You are Looking at ,,, I Never want to DIS ...White , Oliver , MM, Co-op and or Cockshutt ,,,There Was a point in time they were ahead of everyone with engineering inovations , And they were the little Guys that got ATE by the BIG Boys ... that being said , Refering To your question , It would seem You would get a full review of the workability of that tractor if You were inded a serious buyer ,,.

Thanks for the replies, all taken seriously.
He just got my attention when I was offred the
Big one for $2,000 as is and make an ofer on the
small one. I have traded Iron for a living better part of my life, owned every kinda tractor
you can think of but never one of these 4 wheel whites..Really was thinking more in the line of something to collect sure don,t need it to use..

I have bought and sold 6 of these the last
few years. Running and halfway decent $4500
to $6800.
Not much of a market for them. I would not
pay much more than you can parts it out for.

Ahh, the 4-150 with the fiesty 636 kitty I kinda liked the old girl with the 6 speed tranny. I ran one for awhile that belonged to a guy I sold a 9 stick Hesston disc chisel to that was running loaded singles I"m telling you we were running deep and fast just about the time you"d be thinkin about dropping a gear that Cat would just bear down and pull through. It was replaced by the 16spd 4-175 never ran one of those but I"m told the extra gears made a difference. The 2875hrs shouldn"t be much for the Cat as long as it was taken care of and if I remember right the 3208 was a dry sleeve throwaway block so if the cylinder walls are scored it"s time to send her to China for scrap.My.02cents
