Toyota Clutch questions Ya O/T

Finally got the tranny out today. Found that this thing seems to have no pilot bearing it in. Is this normal or do I have some odd problem on my hands?? This is a 1990 Corolla SR5 FWD car and even the end of the tranny input shaft has no place for a pilot bearing to sit on.
Thanks

It is likely to be fine that way. A sidewinder engine/trans has two bearings on the clutch shaft in the drive to the trans main shaft. This is to absorb the forces on the shaft that would pull or push it sideways. Thus no need for a pilot. JimN

Yea, some, but not all front wheel drive cars use a pilot. If your input shaft has no place for one, then it doesn't use one.
