When start in the morning it will instantly quit. start again and it might run till out of shed.start again and it will quit when put in gear. start again and it will run until on road . start again and it will run until first stop sign. start again and it will run fine the rest of day. What's wrong? It seams to be doing it more.

i bet its got an electric choke on it and choke is opening before engine warms up OR choke is stuck open

i forget when GM went to fuel injection so if it has that...i dunno.

Just to add, I have run a couple of chevy 4.3 V6 engines into the ground(very high mileage) and both dead stopped when the fuel pump went, never had a fuel filter warning in advance before the pump failed.

If it is computer controlled a weak battery will cause it to stall just like it had a huge vacuum leak.

thanx for the update...last 25 years working was in Ford/LM dealerships and that was 20 years ago.

Agreed. The fuel pump is probably forcing fuel through a mostly clogged filter and shuts off to save itself. I doubt the fuel pump itself has failed, usually those pumps just quit and it doesn't start again until you replace it.

if it was the fuel pump or the filter it would do it all the time but since it runs great after it warms up I would say coolant sensor also. If it was a throttle position sensor likewise it would do it all the time too. You need to look at things that have to do with temp of the engine.

Have had a few TBI Chevs come through my way with similar if not exact symptoms.Pick-up coil inside distributor cured 'em all.
