convert from generator 12volt charging system

I want to convert my 8n over to 12volt I have changed the igniton over to electronic do I change the wire from postive to negative on the distributor and what size 12volt batery do I use and do I use the old belt thanks for all the help

if you converted to EI it would of said to be 12v neg ground. If you buy an alternator conversion, it should have all the wiring, brackets, and belt if it is FM dist, SM dist uses same belt.

You can buy EI units for 12v POS GND or 12v NEG GND........better be sure what you have before connecting or else you smoke it.

I am a little confused what is a EI unit and where can I purchase one on yesterdays web site it just said 12volt conversion kit also what is FM dist and SM dist sorry for not knowing what you really was talking about

EI= electronic ignition, which you spoke off already having put on?

FM-front mount dist, SM-side mount dist.
