Portable Air Tanks...Again

I have checked around a bit and have not seen any portable air tanks rated over 125 lbs. I would like a five or ten gallon unit. Anyone know who sells one?

Also, does anyone know the part number for Northern Tool's kit to convert a tank into a portable air tank?

And....What size air tanks are on semi-tractors/trailers, etc.? Would they take 170 lbs. of pressure?

I think I replied to you on tool talk a few days ago. I just went out and checked my Northern tool tank. Its ten gallon and goes to 135#s and I do know the release valve will let go at 136#. I've been happy with it for my needs. I've had it for about 3-4years now. The downfall is it is rather heavy to carry around too far. Its catalog #14147-2001 priced today at 39.99. I paid 29 bucks with free shipping when I got mine.

I just went to the Northern website and looked at your tank. I have no doubt your's has 135# stamped on it, but the one on the website says it's rated at 125#.

Viair http://www.viaircorp.com/OffRoad/tanks.html makes tanks that will handle 150-200 psi for vehicles. I know our trucks that have air brakes, the compressor shuts off at 120 psi. Their 5 gallon tank is rated for 150, but in any of their smaller tanks they have ones that are rated for 200.

Glen, try this link, I replied about scuba tanks, to one of your other posts. The high price that I saw, so far on this site was $36.00. There are several listed there.

I made one by using a 100 pound LP tank. I took the LP valve off, it's 3/4 inch pipe thread. I used a short nipple and a 4 way tee. I have a 200 PSI safety valve at the top of the 4 way tee, and a inlet and outlet on each side of the tee. My compressor shut off pressure is 175 PSI I put it on a hand truck "cart" so i can wheel it around. I works real good for me.
