I keep seeing the ads for the consignment sales in Milford,IL here in the NY farm papers. I was curious of what people thought about them versus other sales. Seems like there is more selection compared to what I have seen closer to home. Can you buy reasonable enough to offset the cost to move something several hundred miles. Of course, I've never been there but might try going to one over the winter if I get good feedback. Especially interested in JD mulch finishers.

Not an answer, but how about Tri Green Interstate Equipment auction near Columbus? I've never been there, but they have a mnothly sale too as far as I know. They'd be closer to you wouldn't they? Archbold would too for that matter, but they aren't worth the trip anymore.

Yes,I went in July. First time in 15 years or so. You wouldn't even recognize the place. They had about 40 tractors. They were out west of the restrooms. Where they used to be lined up all along the road is all new trailers for sale. All the rows straight north of the old cushion manufacturing building are full of 3pt equipment, round bale feeders, gates and such that are for sale out of the office. There are 2 absoulte rows. The rest is all reserved and they don't even try very hard to get rid of any of it. They sell it all from trucks now. While they were going down one row of hay tools, the auctioneer was just laying back in a chair with his feet up barely even paying any attention to the crowd. It was pretty pathetic. Used to buy a lot of equipment out of there.

Thank you for the input. Never heard of it before now but I will look in to it. The local equipment jockey says very little quality equipment comes through Archbold anymore and most of it is pretty dated.

I live in central Il and have been to a few of their sales. Like anything else you may get a bargain one day and screwed the next. Pretty staight forward people to deal with. I know some of the auctioneers. Usually good quality late model equipment.

Ask around to see what sells and what doesn't. Not sure a lot is sold that runs through the ring. Lived less than 10 miles away and never went so from NY state(?).

Mowrys run a top notch sale....particularly on relatively late model iron. They draw from a wide area and sell to an even wider area. Well worth the trip just to see it once. That is not to say that everything is a deal but it is consistent in having a pretty decent line-up every month. You won't see much scrap sold there. Most of the iron is no more than 20 years old, unlike many of the other reqular sales, such as Archbold.

Tri greens is mostly junk anymore.Mostly old beat up tractors the jocky's can't sell at home end up there.A family feud caused them to split up and not much going on anymore.

Pretty neat place. If you go, check out how many grain tables are out back. There are some normal ones and real odd balls and there must be 60+ of them. Usually newer equipment and hardly any junk. I"ve seen a lot being sold and on it"s way to PA. Search for their website for more info. Milford is a small town with no hotels if I remember right.
