O/T 4 way flashers/brake lights

I just noticed today that my 4 way flashers stop flashing when the brake pedal is pressed. This is on my 1991 Ford F150. Is that the normal way of operation? Thanks

YES.

Generally the same rear lamps are used for brake or 4-way and BRAKE has priority.

yep,if they dont stop flashing your brake lites aint working...good way to check them before a trip.

They are also on the same fuse !

normal operation for something that old .the light bulbs share the same element .
