Can't buy the old flat tops any more as a complete unit. The Briggs motor they use now for racing they call the "Animal" it is an OHV motor, to buy one in racing trim burning alcohol will set you back over 2 grand. One of the fastest growing classes around here they call the "clone" class, They go to Harbor Freight and buy one for about 150.00 run it until it dies throw it away and buy a new one. Makes for much cheaper racing. Gary

I"d like to know if there are good books to read about go kart racing....surely somebody has written down some information on how it"s done.

I bought a HF clone engine a few days ago for $99 WITH COUPON...$129 otherwise.

I"d like to know how they take what I consider a rototiller engine and make a kart schitt-n-git!

THE flat top that my son used to race, me being the "owner/chief mechanic" came from the motor builder putting out 10.5 horse @ 7 grand dynoed on alky. One good site to look at is 4cycle.com it has links to motor builder and other karting supplies. If your looking for brute hp. from a motor of the same basic design the jr. dragsters are getting in the 40 to 60 hp range
