8N Transmission Oil Problem

Help! I need to change the oil in my 8N Transmision and rear end. I drained the exle and transmission, and when I filled the Transmission with oil, the oil stayed in the transmission. Is the rear end/hydraulic oil not shared with the transmission? Will it drain into the rear end on its own??? Are they seperate chambers? If so, how do I fill the rear end? Thanks in advance

Wendy:

Your 8N has a single sump for the transmission, hudraulics and differential. There are three drain plugs.

The new oil is added to the fill plug near the shifter and will fill the entire sump but might take a fefw minutes for the levels to equalize if the oil is cold.

Note: Ford tractors built after the last 8Ns (1952) DO have seperate sumps.

Thank you for the fast reply!
I went back out to check and sure enough, everything was as it should be. By the way - what does the position control lever do?
Thank you again.

Position control if for normal ops. and draft if for plowing. 99% of the time you want that lever to be in the up position so you can control blades etc and have them stay pretty much where you need/want them
