Well last I heard S.S and D.A.V. pension will not get a cost of living raise this year but those in office will. Sad to see how the rich people in office keep on hurting the ones that built this nation. If the gov. wants to get spending up they should give an increase to the D.A.V. pension and S.S. pension by say $200 a month and well if they did the spending would jump sky high but instead they give it to those who just party there A$$'s off. Ya I'm sort of up set but hey last time I went to the V.A. hospital they said well we can not figure out what is wrong with your shoulder so live with it till it gets worse some good doctors they have NOT

What a record the VA has & this is Gov health care !!!!!!!!!!! I should not b!@ch at least now I have a VA doctor that speaks English.

Ya she just is able to speak English and she seem to be there more for the money then to help out. Last time I saw her she did not refill my scripts and I ran out of meds I needed and if they where needed more I could have been in bad shape. As it was I had heart burn for days because of lack of my meds.

I think Old has a good point about the increase in the S.S. and D.A.V. funding. I am not there yet, but will be sooner than it seems. I use the V.A., but have had some trouble getting records to get disability. I don't need it right now, but would like to know it will be there if and when I do need it. I have had really good results with most of my care, but it has not been anything really life threatening. I have an Asian who speaks English... Better than he did :) I am in Texas, and have found care to be better in different places. I hope you all to have the best care they can offer by all means.

I get my meds by mail. When script expires, I have to call clinic for rewnewal. Usually handed by clerks.

I don't mind the Government. getting the raise . I just wish they would take their old coon dogs and pet hamsters off the payroll.

While we're on the V.A. subject, I didn't know till last month that if you have one of several cancers including lung, larnyx, melanoma, and prostate, and were in Viet Nam, you're automatically assumed to have gotten the cancers due to Agent Orange. This came about last year & as usual they're not telling anyone. My Dr. (a nurse practioner at Chillocothe V.A. Medical Center in Ohio) sent me for Agent Orange testing because of my breathing problems & they gave me a pamphlet about it. If any of you are aflicted, you might want to check it out.

I thought you got a COLA raise when the cost of living goes up. The cost of living went DOWN this year.

Of course you might call me biased because as a taxpayer I happen to be on the other side of the equation.

People that say the cost of that the cost of living has gone down must never go to the store.

I, for one, cannot complain about the VA health care.

A couple of months ago, I got a letter saying it was time for my annual physical. I called, and had an appointment in 10 days. During the physical, my doctor was at his best. As usual, always willing to take time to talk in depth about anything I wanted to discuss. I also requested an eye exam and a hearing test.

The appointment for the eye exam took two weeks, and during the exam a chronic adjustment problem with my glasses was fixed. No change in my vision.

Had the hearing test last week. The doctor that did it was a real sweetheart. She was professional and thorough. She also had wall paper on her computer of a picture of a deer she had shot a couple of weeks before. So, we had to talk some deer hunting. She also took time to compare this hearing test with the last one. Basically no change.

All in all, I"ve found the VA health care here in Nebraska to be at least on a par with, if not better than, a lot of private care I"ve gotten.

Yep and if you have any hearing problems and or ringing in your ears you need to have that checked because you could get a 10% disably for it plus earing aids free

I started paying income tax and FCIA taxes at the age of 14 and did pay them till my doctor said no more work for you so I payed my dues. How many people do you know that can say they started paying taxes at that age. Most are lucky to start by the time there 20 and some 25 because mommy and daddy put them through college

I get mine by mail also but the last time I saw my doctor she did not do a refill on any of my drugs so I had to fight just to get them all renewed and 2 of them I also most can not live with out. Some how high blood pressure is a problem if not controlled

Best of my knowledge NO one, getting a gov check for 2010 was to get a COLA due to gas being cheap. Gas goes up to 4 bucks again and thus cola for 2011.
Va is a different cat each location is different the bigger the city the more problems with service.

My problem with the V.A. service is that fack I just got switched to the local clinic which is pretty much just a hole in the wall sort of place that can take blood and see that your still walking. Past that and I have to drive 100 mile one way to see a doctor.
As for the COLA thing I think if One big a$$ mistake America hadn't spent so much on the bail outs and cash for clunkers we would be getting a COLA but he spent it so we don't get it

the people that went to college chances are are actually making alot more and will indeed pay alot more

you dont get out of ss taxes and fica, if you draw a check you pay, dont mind it just want it there when I retire too!

No they have not. Just bought my food for the month. Two hundred twenty five dollars and did not get that much. I think they should have a cash for help program. Would do more than the cash for clunkers joke. Quite a few people around here. Traded in there old trucks for new ones. Only to get one more MPG out of them.

Government (elected officials) and some state employees do not contribute to SS. They have a separate plan. Need I say more?

I do not and never have had 50 tractors. As for repiaring them ya I play with them but till you wear my shoes you have no idea how much or how long I work before I have to take a brake from what I'm doing. Shoot I can not even sit in front of the computer for more then an hour or so before I have to get up and do other things because of the pain that I'm in

Yep and that is why the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer we live in a double standard type world to bad it wasn't all pay into all get out but instead it is the rich do it one way and they tell the poor how it will be done by there standard of thinking

Mark,I agree. I haven't had cola or raise of any sort for over three years. But I keep paying. I already work full time and farm part time. I guess I need to get another job.

You would think that Obammy and the dumocrats would hand out more COLA money cause they would want to get reelected. But I could be wrong.

The fat dogs in Congress figured a way to collect medicare from fed checks in 1980. So now the fed pension people sign up for medicare at age 65 which becomes the primary insurance with the retirement health card picking up the rest. Blue cross and the rest must have had a hand in this in 1980 to save bucks. The new gov retirement plan has about 1/3 coming from SS.

I don't argue with or begrudge anyone a disability compensation. But to
b!tch because of COLA is going a little far. And nothing more than a slap in the face to folks that work at the majority of the jobs that don't offer it and pay taxes that finance your compensation. Just my $.02. Sorry if it offends anyone.

Regarding Agent Orange, google agent orange/Puerto Rico, or agent orange/Panama, and you"ll see Army testing was done there in the 1960s. More than Nam vets were exposed to it.
