Hey Bill,
Had to go back and look at your pictures one more time - always great.
You ought to post some of those to Channel 25 and/or Peoria County Farm Bureau for the calendar! Maybe Wrigley at the wheel when you are - where?

PS: You came pretty close to getting done before December, but now that you're done with the harvest could you put up the snow fences! (As you have time)

Thanks for the nice comments about the pics. They are for the enjoyment of everyone on here and myself thats all. Never would have thought that we would be picking corn after thanksgiving much less untill the 5th of december. I heard the peoria farm show was a bit of a ghost town since everyone was still in the field. Had about a inch of snow last night and it looked like everyone with corn to harvest was out and trying to do as much as possible before the weather changes. I am SOOOOOO happy to be done as the thoughts of watching a blizzard hit my corn fields would have been unbearable. Really do feel for all the guys still harvesting. I wont have time to put up snowfence before the storm hits so you better find a good snow shovel. Was busy tonight and will be busy tomorrow getting things sqaured away so the cattle will be ok for a couple days if it is really bad. I'm not anywhere near ready to deal with 6 inches of snow and 2 days of 30-40 mph wind only to be followed by near zero temps but why should anything about 2009 be easy?

I never thought I'd be chopping canary grass off a swamp for bedding in December, but on the 6th my dad and I were hitting it hard to beat the snow that came today on the 7th. Only 1 inch, but it would have been enough moisture to mess it up.

We were done plowing, bottoms all painted up and parked for the winter, but now we decided to plow under a hay field yet because it just didn't produce the last year or 2 and isn't worth waiting to do late corn on it last year after 1st crop. Already have another field we're doing that to next year, and don't wanna try it with 20 acres when we only do about 25-35 acres of corn each year.

We've plowed in snow before, but not in a while.

The push was in Iroquois county by rt 52 Sunday. One field had three combines running and 5 semi's waiting. Elevators were piling corn on the ground with 3 semi's waiting to dump Thru. Lot of corn standing in Iroquois County just south of Kankakee.
