I was about 150 miles from home today and saw this Bald Eagle looking over a 10 acre mill pond on the west side of Brattleboro, VT. I wonder if they taste like chicken.

This is an 1164 County (British made) conversion of a Ford. It has two drive shafts going to the front. The guys on the Ford Forum say they are valuable. It was in New York State. I have more pictures of this tractor.

Looks like there is a front grill thief in the area.

Never seen a ford like that one. You got a side view?

Gary

Neat pictures, i have been close to a bald eagle a few times, but never had a camera with. One time one landed right on a post in the corral while we were doing chores, they are an impressive bird. They usually are in the area during the geese migrating in the spring and fall otherwise you dont seem to see them around here.

That County is interesting, never seen a picture of one up close. I wondered how they powered that front axle, but it looks like they must just be driving each front wheel individually off the rear end.

Things I never saw before. I saw a 34 wheeler today. Triple axel tractor and 5 axel lowboy trailer. I've seen lots of quad axel, but never a 5 axel before.

D-C 741,

I would like to own that but I really have enough stuff. I didn't even inquire about a price.

we have a bald eagle in our valley. my wife got some video of him/her in a tree across from the house when i was planting this spring.

Y'know Kip,

I do have an Elwood MFWD on my IH 660 but I think it will remain there despite the fact it will fit the 400.

I don't want to remove the Cotton Picker PTO to make the necessary room.

However, I have started to think about putting a Dana 60 axle on the F-400. Power will come from the left side bull pinion gear. I think you have seen pictures of the right angle gear box already in place. My math says the axle will need 12.6 x 24 tires. It's a big project because I will have to install a locker on the differential.

I think you will like some upcoming pictures of my W-400 LP. Give me a week or so unless it snows.

Jay,

It is located at Salem Farm Supply, Salem, NY. That's 25 miles north of Albany. They are a CaseIH/Kubota dealer.

Here in cent ILL the eagles are coming on like gang busters ,and they are damn smart as they figured out when they hear gun shots near water that they can steal a duck or goose for a free meal .

Five of them there eagles in the last five years. A first for me. Some were up north by tippy dam in Mich.

Ask Jim MacFadden to buy it and put it in his auction so that you can go and buy it cheap. LOL

There wasn't by any chance a farm with a bunch of Fords overlooking that mill pond was there?

The pond is on Rt 30 not far from what I think used to be a state owned farm. There is also a number of nice old state owned brick buildings at the end of the pond. I am not sure but I think the river is the "West River". It begins in the Bromley, Stratton Mountain, and Mt Snow areas. All the expensive man made snow was melting in the heavy 60 degree rain yesterday.

I called it a mill pond because the topography doesn't seem flat enough for a natural pond of that size. There is a small gravel parking lot (20 or so cars) between the pond and Rt 30.

As of yesterday there was a 600,000 lb. Electrical transformer unloaded at a rail siding in Aguila Az. amd it will soon be put on a monster trailer for transport to a site some where around Phoenix Az. That should be a site . A monster Tractor Trailer outfit for sure.Reporters for the Newspapers were there taking pictures for a article in the AZ. Republic.

I thought about going to MacFaddens but it would have added 192 miles to my round trip. I am looking for IH standard tread rear wheel weights. He probably has a few in his weight pile.

I emailed him a month ago and attached a picture of the weight. He never replied.

The County 4wd's were somewhat popular here in NY's Tug Hill region as back in the late 60's-early 70's when they came out they were one of very few 4wd tractors available, and were necessary to deal with the huge winter snowfalls we get here. Don't see too many nowadays as every manufacturer of farm tractors offers 4wd, but some are still around. They tended to be maintenance-intensive and parts were expensive, but when that was all you could get that would work, you took that in stride.

You have to keep right after them. they don't seem to be real eager to sell stuff. you want to call and talk to Jeff. I will probably be going out there soon. If you make the deal I could probably bring the weights back for you.

There are alot of eagles here in eastern NC they have figured out they have easy food sources with all of the catfish farms.

My youngest daughter has been to Trinidad twice now. Ate Shark both times. Says they taste like chicken, but they make you want to show your teeth! LOL Greg

Bald eagles have become nothing but garbage dump birds around here. A visit to the local landfill will spot you 40 on the average day. Absolutely nothing special about spotting one here.
A golden eagle, on the other hand, is a rare scene - only spotted 2 in the last many years - one at the landfill and the other in the true northern boreal forest.

There's a bald eagle nest in a tree near the road I drive to work. See the eagle once in awhile- best was when she had caught a fish in the Newaukum River, and had it in her talons as she flew over the road, headed back for the nest.

I'm told they taste a lot like spotted owl, but with a little fishiness, like whooping crane.

Ah Jeeez,,,,,,,,,,I could see this going on indefinitely,,,,,,,,,LOL,,,,,,,,,,,,And its going to wind up with chicken

Goodrich Tractor Parts,Newark Valley,NY Was the place that had the ones that were broke, a few years back.Thats were I learned about the Bell houseing.

They have eagles at Edgewood Arsernal & Aberdeen Proving Ground here in MD. We had one that got too close to a transformer and was killed. When I called it in they said no one was to touch the bird or pickup any feathers as it was a federal offense. We had to shutdown testing since a lot of personnel were in the area. They can swoop down and catch a fish in the nearby rivers. Hal

Nice pics Wardner.

There's a bald eagle nest on the top of the bridge over Ky Lake, just south of Aurora, KY. Been there for at least the last two summers.

Up in Illinois, they'll close off big sections of Crab Orchard Lake if an eagle is nesting in the area. Those Kentucky eagles don't seem to mind traffic at all.
