insurance quote

I dont even know if I can do this or not but I'm thinking of trying. I got to thinking my auto insurance was pretty high, guess some of it is my fault as I insure 2 cars 2 pickups a van and a motorhome. (my wifes and my drivers records are good and we are accident free on our policys) Anyway I asked another company for a quote, It came back 4 of the vehicles with the exact same coverages and deductables were higher or the same but 2 came back about $200 a year cheaper. Now I did a little research on how the adjusters are to work with as I have a father in law in the repair business and he says he has good luck with this company and feels the customers are treated fairly. My question is can I keep insuring 4 of the cars with one and move the other two to another company and save some money? If so how do I approach my current company about it and can they cancle me. I have thought about letting them match but I thought they could have been cheaper all along! Any ideas? Anybody out there in the insurance business? Thanks Case e

Sure you can insure 5 cars with 5 companies but most of the time it is cheaper to keep them all with the same company. Call around and get at least two more quotes. we were with the largest co in the US for 30 years and the wife finally called around, we saved 500.00 a year!

haha last time I dropped an insurance company it was due to me switching a vehicle to my business policy. however the old company asked why i was cancelling, and I told them it is because they charge too much, and he said oooh lets see what we can do and it was trying to knock money off. too late now buddy, he should have knocked that money off years before.

I'm with Progressive and had to many for one policy so they started another policy and put the last one on it. I didn't get as good a deal on that one but once I sold one from the original policy, I moved the one over to it and got a better rate on it.

The problem with pulling vehicles from a policy is that, right now, I bet your saving a few hundred dollars having 6 vehicles insured with that one policy. A lot of places do multi-vehicle discounts....same as some do home and auto discounts, shop and auto, home and shop, etc etc.

I have 3 on my policy right now, and when I asked about removing one to move it to another company, I was told my policy would increase by almost half of what I was going to save. Didnt seem as worth it to me anymore.

Generally speaking, you'll get the best rate if all your vehicles are on the same policy. Insurance companies normally discount the premiums when you have more cars than you have drivers.

It seems that you have to shop around every few years. Low rates to start, then the price goes up.

I have changed to another company within the last week. That makes four changes in the last decade with a "Minimum" of $300. savings each time for the same coverage on three vehicles.

Electric ... AIG .... Travelers and now Hartford through AARP. If you don't want to over pay you must check around ......... and now the internet makes it easy.

If you want a personal agent to talk with ...... plan on spending a couple hundred more dollars for your insurance ..... period. Going through a representing agency i.e. "middleman" costs money.

I"ve heard that some companys will give you a
low price to "beat the competition" and get you
hooked, then gradually raise the rates!
Watch out for the ones that want to know what you
are paying now, and guarentee to save you $300
a year!

I called one of those Fly by night outfits and when it came in higher than my State Farm was the manager came on and gave a lower quote. I didn't fall for it.
I have been with State Farm for over 41 years and will most likely die with them in tow. Been good to me over the years.

PS GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company)

I also have State Farm, so far no problems. Also around 40 years with them. I was tinking just how much I have paid to them over the years. Stan

Auto insurance really chapps my hide! I too have multiple vehicles. Insurance companies are really covering the DRIVER and that drivers habits [good or bad] and thier abilities as drivers. When you have multiple vehicles and policies, its gravy money for them. It really doesn't matter how many modes of transportation you have, I am willing to bet you can only drive one at a time. So why does the second or third vehicle cost extra? If I'm driving my pickup. my car is not being driven so I really don't need the "additional" coverage. Just my thoughts. How about insurance based on driving record and total miles per year - not the vehicle itself.
