Diesel chainsaw price?

Anybody ever come across a diesel chainsaw at auction, if so, how much did it go for?

I'd like to buy one as a project, but they're not common in the US. At least not on my side of the country.

There were several models that originated in Norway late 40s, early 50s. Comet A and Comet B, etc. Jonsereds made them for awhile after the first company quit.

The swedish Comet diesel chainsaws are pretty rare. I saw one, starts on propane. Interesting, but just a bit complicated for me.

As far as I know, Norwegians used these in the 50's.

Why? I would imagine the fuel efficiency was astronomical.

I always go the day before to see what is dragged in, unannounced. If I see something I really want, I go to the actual auction. Otherwise, not. That place has some of the most confusing auctions I've ever been too. Last one I went to, he had two auctioneers in totally different locations on opposite sides of the lot, like a tag team. Also, when bidding is going on, it is very hard to follow what the current bid is, and often the bid amount get raised yet I see no one in the crowd making that bid.

I've been attending auctions for many years and am not inexperienced at it. That being said, I still get awful confused at MacFadden's auctions.
But, he gets some amazing stuff dragged into that place and it's only 20 miles from my house.

Well look for your self, but I just got back from there now, and mostley the same kinda junk. He did have a nice JD410 round baler, and some OLD Ford square baler, looked intersting, nothing I"d ever wanna touch. Also a nice JD 4040 tractor, not much else thought, maybe its still early.
I hear you about the two trucks too, you cant hardly hear, than they have tractors running right next to were people are bidding,, lol, J

No fools they, the Norske's at some point must have realized that those suckers weighed twice as much as they should, and switched to "Yonsareds".

Certainly seems like the diesel engine is uniquely inappropriate for chain saws- heavy, hard to start, not free-revving, etc. Sure, economy would be better, but with the small amount of fuel used, can't imagine it would be worth the bother.
