would like your experience with jitter bug cell, good and bad . i have AT@T mobility now but would like to change to something simpler to use for emergencies and other occasionly use when away from land line. i don't need or want all the useless garbage that only makes it harder to make a call . i only have this thing for emergencies and don't to know what time it is on the moon . thanks bill

I looked at Jitterbug for its size and simplicity, but googling found a high number of unresolved complaints, so I went with a conventional pay as you go phone, which I don"t like because of the poor instruction book- so when the time is up and the $40 is gone, might just add a second Sprint phone.

Check out consumer cellular. I've had them 3 years. If you want to try them, let me recommend you and we both get $10.00

Have no experience with Jitter but tried Tracfone a few years back. Liked the simple telephone but couldN"T get the coverage. Went to T-Mobile prepaid with a Samsung phone. Has some bells and whistles but no camera which is just fine with me.

DW has a T-Mobile monthly account with a Noika phone. She uses mine whenever she can. I"m trying to get her to switch to a prepaid. I got 1000 minutes for $100, and they carry over. Unfortunately, checking the T-Mobile web site, I can"t find any telephone without camera.

Research has shown that there are T-Moble phones such as I have available from resellers. Also, I find that cell phones are manufactured without any particular net locking on them, that the service provider does the locking and, that they can be unlocked for use on another net.

Sorry I can"t help with the Jitter Bug but there are alternatives out there.

We have had jitterbug all most sense the start and except for the first 6 or so months while they were working out their growing pains the serves has been fine and so far every time we have called we have gotten a clear English speaking person We travel back and forth between or kids ( they live 180 degrees from each other) and home several times a year and have had no problems on the road

Bob, we have had the pre-paid T-Mobile, and had very good service. The problem is that we started using them more, and we text a lot. I have a 15 year old daughter also, and we wanted her to be able to have a phone. The T-mobile was a bit expensive for all we were doing, so we are now using Boost Mobile. Have some trouble with coverage, but $50.00 a month each phone, and everything is unlimited. We also have internet etc... As for the Jitter Bug, I had thought about them, but we need more service for what we do. I have done away with a home phone, since basic service was running us about $70.00 a month, and noise on the line all the time. This is also with no long distance. SBC/ATT is GONE!!! I have seen the Jitter Bug advertised a lot, and they are in my Legion magazine almost every month. Also in the electric co-op, so they must be good for simple service. By the way, Wal-Mart has the simple T-mobile starting at about $30.00. You can swap the SIMM card yourself, if you already have one of their phones, and keep your number in the next phone.

I looked at several cell phones (including the jitterbug) and two years ago settled on a Tracfone. The phone was $19.99 and a 60 minute card was $19.99 also. The next week the phone was on sale for $9.99. Oh well! You must buy a card at least every 90 days to keep the phone in service but the unused minutes roll over. I use my phone as a emergency phone but also use it for long distance to keep my land line cost down. Right now I have 221 minutes (units) on it and I only buy the 60 minute/90 day cards. I've called coast to coast and have never had trouble connecting. All this for less than $7.00 a month. But!!!!!!! Remember to use it at your convenience and not for others. David..............
