More milo harvest pics - Kansas

This is double crop milo planted no-till into wheat stubble. Not as good as the full season regular milo was but still not bad. Needed a couple of weeks to mature before a hard freeze. Test weight is only running a little over 52# per bushel (standard is 56#). This is on my son's farm in central (Rice County) Kansas. I would like to share more photos but just didn't get a chance as I was pretty busy running the grain cart and hauling to town with the semi-truck.

Moisture has been running in the 16% range. Probably about as dry as it is going to get.
Picture of the field is misleading; it is all gently rolling and terraced. I'll try to get some more pics today.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Always enjoy seeing what's going on in other parts of the country.

Prompted me to go out to the web and read some information on <a href="http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/AFCM/sorghum.html">milo</a>.

Here in north east Kansas the local Coop barely took milo. If it was wet they told people to turn their truck around. They are warning guys to not plant milo again because next year they probably won't take it. They have said that for the last couple years though.

That's about what we have been at here, but the elevators want it 14.5. We finally got some in today at 13.6- I got in line this evening literally 7 minutes late and they refused to dump me. But gotta be thankful we finally found some dry crop!

I am assuming you planted this into winter wheat, so how many days did you grow from seed to harvest?

PS thanks for the pics. A pleasure to see.
