It seems that when I start my tractor (farmall mta) it doesnt "pop" off until I let off the starter button, is this just a coincidence? do I have a problem? how do I fix it?

Did you put electronic ignition kit on the MTA ,. thats exactly what My DC Case will do since I changed it over ,,If I Hold the staRTER BUTTON ,My DC will not start until I release the Starter Button .. I have hand cranked the DC up to the compression stroke .stopped the hand crank . flipped the ignition switch and the DC will detonate (Start ) and will be running .. on a 40 degree day . COLD ! , Had not run for 24 hours ... Downside is the Electronic Ignition Demands a HOT battery or it WILL NOT start period,, not even pulling .....

no factory ignition and it does always start pretty well as long as the battery is up. In winter I allway trickle charge the batteries on all my tractors to warm up the battery a little

sounds like your starter might be taking all the juice from the battery to roll engine ove not leaving any to fire the plugs could be a number of things week battery,bad connection, starter going bad if you can hook a different battery to the ignition then roll over engine with battery you already have

Had a pickup that did that. It was a bad coil.
