I have a 1650 oliver that I use in the summer time to bush hog. I parked it in the barn about a month ago and when I went to start it I had to to spray it I never had to spray this tractor before. When it started it didnt have any response when I tried to bring RPM up it did come up very slow and didnt have any power. It didnt blow black smoke like it usually did. In fact the throttle didnt feel the same like it is easier to move. I looked at the injection pump and it is activating. I got to looking at the pump and there is a line coming out the top and it goes to all the injectors and has rubber tee fittings going to ech one. The first one was broke and I thought I found it so I rigged a tee up to this and it didnt change anything. I really like this tractor and cant stand it not running even if I dont need it at this time. Please anyone help me if you can I dont know much about diesels. But I will try what ever any suggests to get this back and running good.

Not familiar with that tractor, but diesels have pressure lines going from the injector pump to the injectors and there is a return line from the injectors which returns excess fuel to the tank. These lines are not high pressure snd it sound like the one you found broken is part of the return line. If air gets into the return line it will cause hard starting and poor running. I would trace all these lines out back to the tank and see that they are in good shape, if not replace the lines.

I'm not an expert and maybe someone knowledgeable will come on with more information. Hope this helps.

I have an Oliver 1655 diesel which is very similar to yours. Sometimes the throttle rod from the injection pump to just under the dash comes loose. Check that.Your lack of black smoke and having to use ether could be an injection pump problem. There is also an allen head screw where the throttle rod attaches at the injection pump. Check to see if it is loose also. Hope this helps.

I will check those suggestions. I can see the stuff moving at the injector pump but maybe it isnt activating what it is suppose to. I thought the pump rod was working because when I push the throttle forward the tractor RPM"s will speed up but it takes a minute or two and it just isnt running with power. Its just like it isnt getting enough fuel.

keh is right those are the returns. also have you changed the fuel filter lately or checked the sediment bowl for any restriction?

I havent changed the filters. I did clean the fuel bowl. I opened the filters blead valves and got fuel. it has a pump on the fuel pump and it seems to be pumping I guess this would be a primer. I will have to take some covers off and change the return lines as sugested.

Check the tank also. My NH 3010 diesel had enough buildup of trash in the tank that the screen on the tank outlet was clogged. It also trashed my fuel filter. Same M/O would run, but no power at all. Either starving for fuel, or there is an air leak in the fuel lines somewhere.

Thanks everyone I will try some of the suggestions given here and see if I can get it going. I appriciate all the help and as I see here often I will post what I find for all in case it could help someone else.
