My bet is they didn't find your problem when they were working on your egr or air sensor. In the good ole days you could tell if something was wrong or not. Today it is just a big guess even with the computer. A few years ago I had a problem with a light coming on. Spent a lot of money and light still come on. Dealer said this is what computer says this should fix it. I ask for the read out. I took it to another dealer and had read out done. It was completely different. What was the problem, their computer on blink, mechanic didn't know how to read it, or my car kept changing, or maybe getting bad parts, which BTW they can't put it back or switch out if that didn't fix it. Well I quit spending money and drove the car several years with no problem except that light was on. Neighbor kid said he could fix it, he did. He disconnected the light.

Are you sure all those individual problems really happened? Did you see the code readouts? And even then, one problem can throw different codes. My leaky intake gaskets first threw a Mass Airflow Sensor, then O2 Sensor, then bad Convertor. None of them were bad, just some coolant running through the motor. Added some of those brown tabs in the radiator 3 months ago and no more leak.

Not saying you don't know what you're doing, just saying keep an eye on those guys.

Up to 360K on my 3/4 ton, never been in the shop yet. (knocking on wood here). Replaced one front bearing/hub assembly like yours, everything else is from the factory.

Toyota? Don't think so. Nissan? Not ever. Still bugs me when I see rural folks driving those things around. But that's just me.

It might just be a switch that controls the light is busted. Don't take it to a dealer, take it to the local repair shop and have them look at it. They might agree with me that its the switch cause thats what it sounds like.

Rick,
I have an 04 Duramax and I blocked of the egr and unplugged it. I did this about 3 years ago and I had not had any problems. No light either. You can go to www.dieselplace.com/forum/index.php? and read about why and how to do this.
