tractor battery warrenty

Who has the best warrenty on tractor batteries? I was going to get an interstate but they only had 6 month free replacement.

The "best" way to do it is buy a battery with an car warranty and don't tell anybody you're putting it in a tractor. All the companines shorten their warranties when installing in a tractor or any kind of off-road equipment.

Even some on-the-road stuff will give a short warranty if conidered "industrial" or "heavy duty."

My 1992 Dodge 3/4 diesel pickup is a perfect example. It uses one big battery instead of two like most other diesel pickups. Warranty is only one year because it's a special "heavy duty" battery. If I put in two smaller car batteries hooked in parallel, I could get a 5-7 year warranty.

Yes my f350 has 2 batteries with the same cold cranking amps of a tractor battery each. I'm thinking of just going to advance auto and buying one for 100.

I use Walmart's best battery with the 3 year free replacement. They cost about $75.00 with an exchange. I have 3 of them that's been in use for 8 years. One of them is in my garden tractor. They have a 9 year warranty that's prorated if you have a battery failure. Hal

TSC has something called "Power Plus" which is an extension of a factory warranty and is either a 1-2 year or a 3-4 year plan. I don't remember if it applies to the batteries or not but if it does get it. We sell Exide now and there good( a guy bought two for a IH 5488 today to replace two continentals) and there is a $10 core exchange for the old ones. If you get the power plus, it allows a free exchange for the same or similar battery after the factory has expired. My 2 cents.

I think you'll find that NAPA has a warranty of 2-3 years replacement with several more pro-rated beyond that.
They are expensive... but I find that batteries with longer warranties are better batteries. There's a reason why Exide doesn't like long replacement warranties.
I've also got a bunch of Delco's around with 2 year warranties that seem to hold up well.

I'm more concerned with getting a battery that will last than a battery that will just make it into it's pro-rated years because I've never been able to win that game.

Guys, I've sold a lot of batteries, and I recommend you change the way you think about them. Don't look at it like you "buy" an accessory for your machine, think rather that you enter into a contract with the battery manufacturer for them to provide this thing to start your engine.

You are paying "X" dollars, and they are saying, "We guarantee that our battery will spin your engine for "Y" months. Divide the X into the Y and you know how much you pay every month for that "service". If you pay more, but get more warranty months, then the monthly cost might be the same.

No matter how much (or how little) you pay, it's the same wager as the one you make with your insurance company. They're betting you'll live (you'll pay the full price and they won't have to replace your battery), and you're betting you're gonna die (the battery won't hold up and they'll have to give you a new one).

Whether you're honest about how you use this thing is something for you to think about on Sundays. The honest ones among you are paying for the dishonest ones. 'Twas ever thus...
