Yesterday the bride and I marked 27 years of wedded bliss. She went for a mamory gram, I went and looked at a 1030 case. Tractor has been well maintained/ restored, and price is not to bad, but.....It has the 1000 rpm pto and most of my needs are for a 540pto. So the Question is can I get away with just running my 540 spreader, haybind, ect at half throtel or would I have to change to a 540 set up from another old tractor. How big a job would it be? Most would agree I had a more enjoyable afternoon, but better safe than sorry as far as the wife is concerened.
 
Had one years ago, and would recommend the 540. 1000 will work on an auger wagon and etc, and other light duty things. The 540 would work a lot better on most items that require more power. Plus you will end up running some implements a lot faster than recommendations with the 1000.
 
1000 doesn't work real well, I have rd. baled at 1/2 throttle in a pinch, not too bad to switch to 540, find a parted 930ck and convert it
