Deutz Gear Lube Help

I have a Deutz 4507. It is my first tractor and I know nothing about it.It has water in the rear gear housing. I pulled the plug on the very bottomand about 10 galons of mustard cream looking thick oil came out. Where do I refill it? How much of what do I put in it? Also I pulled out what looks like a big plug on top of the aux hydaulics. It has a spring under it and the fluid was a thin tan milk colored. It also seems to be part of the power steering. Where do I drain it and how do I fill it. Is the top a seperate system from the bottom? What fluids do they take?

Sounds like you should try to find an owners manual at least and shop manuals if possible. The owners manual will be a real moneymaker. Any chance that thing has been through a few spring floods?
Good Luck.

Been a little while since I worked on those, but the transmission fluid is seperate from the hydraulic fluid. The transmission was GL5 80W/90 gear oil and the hydraulics was Universal tractor oil 15W/30. The trans on most deutz tractors is pressure lubricated and there is usually a washable gauze strainer to clean. Filler/ level plug I think was on the right side of the trans and so was the strainer. The hydraulic fluid goes in the hydraulic top cover (rockshaft housing) a lot of tractors had an additional hydraulic tank to the left of the hydraulic top cover, the tanks had a level (sight glass) I think there was a black plastic cap with a dipstick on the hyraulic top cover. On later tractors the hyd oil was common to the trans oil. On some deutz tractors the rear axle oil is seperate to the trans oil but I think this was only on the bigger tractors. Hope this helps, Richard.
