Got new tires on the car, and the wifes car too, Check! (dont have the money for a 4wd truck)

I think I am ready.

You forgot to add weight to the back of the pickup. I made a wooden frame to hold 4 MF combine rear axle weights, fits between the wheel wells and the tailgate. Haven't been stuck yet. Chris

Bring it on,,,, after this wet summer Im ready. Snow tires are on wifes car, wood shed is full, tractor with loader is waiten and soon I"ll put the plow on my ATV. LOL J

I have to say no, I'm not ready. Snow tires are still in the barn loft. Snowplow and tractor are in the garage, I just need to fabricate the frame that holds the 2 of them together.

On the bright side, I did just finish installing my new coal-stoker furnace, so I have heat in the house again.

Never, you do as much as you can and then live with it. Most stuff you don't get to will show show up in the spring. Its not my fault the great state of Maine put deer season so close to winter. ED

Corn harvested, no
Fall tillage done, no
Fertilizer applied, no

No, but we don't have extremely cold winters and just had our first frost yesterday. We have some nights that will get into the 20's and on a rare occasion, we'll get into the teens. I've seen it down to single digits once in 20+ yrs, so we don't have to do a lot of winter prep.

This w/e at the farm, I will get the faucet covers on and the well covered. James has antifreeze in all the tractors. That's about all we do at the farm.

Since we've moved all my horses to the farm, next week I will drain the faucets at the barn in Dallas and get the two outside faucets at the house covered. Then we're ready for winter.

Leaves all picked up, generator starts, fresh gas w/stabil on site, snow blade on the WD, lawn mower put away. Bout all should be, has been. YEP. Greg

Ah, dug out some long pants and my company jacket to wear to work - not much else is needed here in "Big D".

Got my long sleeve shirt dug out the back of the closet... Check

Planted my strawberry plants... Check

Covered the pool... Check

Checked light in pump house... Got another month to do that.

Yes I am ready.
We had our once every 10 year snow last year so maybe we will be fine this year.
Our first frost is due anyday now.

Lawn mower put away, Check
Found extension cord to plug Explorer in, Check
2-1/2 years of wood under roof, Check
Pantry FULL, Check
Both freezers full of Moose Caribu & Fish, Check
Diesel fuel conditioner in the Pickup, Check

We have way more soybeans in the last couple years so we are still doing them when we would normally be into corn. Figure we got 3 more days on that (raining now) and a couple days on corn. Have had the break down bug 3 of the last 7 days which has not helped. At least we have gotten out at 110 dollars spent plus lots of time so it could be worse.
Wanted to set some drain tile and do some deep-till before the weather closes in. The roof needs some fixin on the pole shed (hope to start re-roofing next year. Maybe spread some potash.
Did a whole bunch of work last year on exterior of house so it is good to go. Fuel oil tank will last us into late January at this point. Previous 2 winters were pretty tough, we should be due for mild at least on the snow. Don't want to see any till Christmas Eve.

I put the tire chains on last week so thats a check off done. Those tire chains work nice in that ice.

Chris, make sure those weights are chained down well....you don't want them joining you in the cab in a hard stop situation. I use bags of water softener salt, leave em in all winter then use them in my softener when i'm done with them.
Chris

Soybeans finished, combine put away. All the lawn stuff is winterized, show tractors put away, chain saws tuned and ready, shrubs trimmed. Got enough wood cut for 3 years, just need to get the kids to haul it to the house so I can cut more.
Don't think you can ever be really ready for winter in Michigan, but I'm close.
Paul

I wish winter would get here so it would be over with......
Getting things ready to bring the horses in (where they have access to a roof) until spring. Bought an army maintenance tent section to use as a pasture shelter for a couple horses and fenced about an acre to winter them on. Will start relocating tomorrow. Wish I could put the wife into hybernation until the clocks change again, but guess I'll just have to deal with it (bright lights are the key).Never ready because something ALWAYS happens.
